What's the title of this thread?

You are certainly entitled to not care about paint quality on a 30-40K daily, but many do.

    And paint meter doesn't lie.

I don't know how many times I have heard "clean carfax, perfect, never in an accident" and then the first reading I got on the hood is 14mil. LOL

More like 40-50k trucks now. No car or truck that cost 40k to 50k should have poor paint quality. You can try your best to justify it but there is no reason it should be poor quality at this price point.

My 12 year old Taco looks better than that. Best bet is to get a dual action polisher and do it yourself or pay for a quality detail. Hate that for you.IMG_2524.jpg

Are you guys really knocking @stuka for being thorough? What a class act. Just because you have done something your whole life doesn't mean there is not room for improvement. The guy clearly deals with higher end sellers than most of us and is in the business of buying and maintaining pristine vehicles. All he did was make a point that it's better to use certain tools vs. eyeballing it. I can't even tell you how many people I have seen say things like "I've been doing this my whole life" and it's sub par to modern standards or the work quality just plain ol sucks. Sounds like the butthurt is a little too much to handle for some of you.

Thank you for sharing Stuka. It takes what, maybe 10 minutes to measure paint depth?

I don't think he was expecting anything. Simply pointing out the depth of paint on our trucks vs. some other vehicles. It's pretty obvious you "literally" don't care.

Because of this thread I fully detailed my new 2022 SR5 today. Except for the crappy orange-peal plastic the rest of the paint looks excellent. I did find some glue residue on the hood but that cleaned right off. I use a ceramic product by Turtle Wax. And yes I care greatly as to the quality of the paint....I expect my truck to look good and to last, especially since I take care of my vehicles.

Stock paint .. with lots of care, no scratches in the clear coat came in my delivery from the dealership. I do agree, the paint is thin , especially on the rear fenders.

My paint is just fine. This nitpicking about everything with these Toyotas most here should've bought a Tesla.

I have a few pieces of dirt in my LR paint. Right on the hood and I would have thought after seeing those Toyota plant videos of a specific person buffing these out that mine wouldn’t still have them

Or tells him to "SuCk iT uP cUz It'S a TrUcK".

buncha assholes here. I'd love a Tesla. I'd love a lamborghini too. I'd love a lot of vehicles and I'd love it even more if they put time and effort into inspecting them for the price we pay for them.
These same people will bitch about other stuff but here on this forum, it's an ego thing. "I actually use my truck". Bruh, nobody gives a fuck. The toxicity of this forum is unmatched and unrivaled.

Just picked up my 2022 celestial silver metallic and It is a decent paint job. Has the usual splotches in the paint but that is typical for metallic paint. No one else will notice but I have an eagle eye for imperfections. Otherwise paint is good no scratches from the dealer.

19 cavalry blue here….bought it with 2k miles used. Shortly after I bought it I did a coat of iron remover, it had some which is common, then I clayed it top to bottom. Used the buffer on it with Megs 205 which was all it really needed and I’ve been coating it with Mckees 37 hydro blue every other month since then along with a weekly or every other week wash.

Paint has been great and the wash and hydro blue is all I do to it. It always shines and no defects anywhere

My 19 super white had the tailgate repainted due to dirt under the paint. My 22 CSM is good.

I have at least half a dozen imperfections in the clear coat, either dirt or bubbles and as stated before an eyelash or piece of hair. Whatever is in the circle puts a raise in the clear coat.
