Has anyone used coilover sleeves to convert the 5100 for use with coilover type springs such as the ones from king suspension that are flat on both ends? Seems like it would provide more precise adjustability as well as allow for more spring options

This is how we did lowering kits on old BMWs, we just welded a ring to the strut housing (strut slides into the housing) then put a adjuster on there and installed the spring.

Do it right or not at all my personal opinion.

King, Fox, 6112 bilstein have flat coil spring ends on either side to sit flush on a flat mount. Stock coil springs and OME have rounded ends that I don't think would sit too well on a flat surface like pictured.

You would definitely have to purchase a coilover type spring for the application that is flat on both ends, I just don’t like any of the choices of springs that are available for the 5100, and was wondering if anyone has tried this out

The kit comes with a snap ring, and the sleeve has an extruded ring on the inside that would sit on the snap ring

For a purely street truck I *MIGHT* consider it if I was really hard up but I wouldn't trust it to much further than the grocery store and back.

Still thinking it would be a lot better ride and probably safer to move up to 8112's or better.

My issue is I need a full length replacement for my 6” lift and they make that in the 5100 for the RCD lift. If I could find an 8112 that’s designed for the 6” I’d go that route most certainly.

I'd trust the ones from Toytec are safe. I'd never trust the kit OP pictured.

these sleeves all attach to the shocks in the same fashion as a Circlip, which we can all agree is safe, what makes you think that would be unsafe?
