    Hello All,
I just got heated seats installed at the dealer and the back of the seat is the only part that has heat. I reached out to the dealer and they said they only do that because they don’t feel comfortable putting on actual seat because of the bars in the seat? I feel like they aren’t doing it right. Does anyone have experience with this?
    Thanks for the help.

Welcome to TW, can you try a different dealer?
The seat and back should be heated.... if not, they didn't do their job.

I mean, the OEM ones don't seem to have an issue with bars in the seat.

Just as @JaCado said. The back and seat should both be heated. Ask them what kit they used. I’m not sure I’ve heard of anyone getting or using a Toyota kit to instal. The aftermarket ones usually are 2 pieces per seat.

I agree with you about not doing their job. But they already installed it and have the cash so I want to try to work it out but the mechanic seems uneducated about heated seats and the dealer charges a fortune for it. It doesn’t make sense to me.

You might need to ask for the instal instructions. Look at your invoice for the work again too.
Can you share a picture of the on/off button for the heated seat, one of us can probable help figure out the style kit they used.

I would.call the corporate 1800# and file a complaint against the dealership if they are not willing to fix/install properly.

At the very least I'd take it back and make them mount the switch properly.

That doesn't look right, typically there is a button/switch on the dash for oem.

OP said they were installed at the dealer, not at the factory. These are definitely aftermarket that the dealer is likely marking up 500% and not OEM.

    Complete BS from the dealer.

When I installed my Katskinz covers I also installed a 3rd party seat heater kit in the backs & the bottom. It came with some fiberglass tape that wraps around the heating pad element where it comes into contact with those bars.

Two winters now with no issues.

Does the receipt invoice say Heated Seat or Back of Seat?

Go back and tell them you want new seats and your money back.
They put that drivers switch in the dumbest spot.

This is why you don't let dealerships install accessories.
    1. The techs don't get paid shit for it and/or they don't know how to install the accessory correctly.
    2. Its sent out to an expeditor or a car audio shop.
