Easier to end up straight in a spot when you can see the parking lines in your mirrors.
Had too many junkers when I was younger, needed to be jumped to often.
Easier to see if anything is in your way when going forward.
Backing in allows you to see if anything or anyone is there first (very useful when picking-up/dropping-off kids at daycare, never know what may be behind you)

I think most ppl that I know who own a truck back into spots... Especially with a DC or DCLB. I learned how to drive in an extended cab F250 so I just got into the habit then....

Plus now the truck has a backup camera so its a no brainer. I can back that truck about an 1/8" away from a wall now. :D

i do it for a couple of reasons cuz the truck is so long.i like to over hang the rear over the parking block(not sure of proper name) so it sits over grass or whatever. i also do it so the car parking in front of me can hit my hitch instead of my front painted bumper

Your brakes (I know this is true about the rear drum, but I'm unfamiliar with the front disk) automatically adjust themselves as they are getting worn out. That's why it never really seems that your brakes are fading with newer cars, until you start hearing the squeeler make noise.

This only happens in reverse, since it only takes a few feet to adjust them. If it took miles and miles to adjust, they would do it when you're driving forwards.

It's just easier to get out of a parking space if you're backed in, especially after sport events and concerts when everyone is leaving at the same time. Can't make eye contact if you aren't backed in.

Backing in is much easier, as has been mentioned a hundred times already. That's really all there is to it. Also, where I work, you're required to park facing out of your parking space so you either have to back in or find a space to pull through.

So true! Why not get that skill down backing into a spot-putting yourself at the advantage, having ALL the variables in front of you where you have a full field of vision?

Backing in is like driving a manual - it can only help and does not hinder ability.

The #1 type of people who ought to back into parking spots are bad drivers (older folk in particular), because too many times these bad drivers honestly don't even look around or behind before or even during their reversal.
