I installed a Draw Tite receiver hitch and bought the wiring harness. My truck is a 2021 Tacoma extended cab.
The directions with the harness say to run a wire all the way to the battery up front.
My previous tacoma I just wired the rear area, taillights both sides and harness to hitch area.
I'm confused to why I have to run a separate wire to the battery.
    Thanks in advance

I'm confused as to why you wouldn't simply follow the directions. Your question would be better directed to the manufacturer of the harness.
