1'' less than 1st gen wheels.

Probably 7.5'' wide so fine for a 11.5 wide tire. Really pushing it for a 12.5.

 

The dents you left in your bed would say otherwise...

 

You're only supposed to look at the drivers side.

 

But what is it pushing lol all it does is make it ridiculously easy to seat the bead and ridiculously difficult to pop a bead on the trail.

I've run 35"x12.5" on 7.5's for what like 6 years now with no issues? But the 5.5" back spacing is for sure the deal breaker. Granted it's the metric 315/75r16 but still it's the industry standard 35"x12.5"

 

If its too narrow a wheel with too wide of a tire then you have also run much lower tire pressures to get even wear. On my 8'' wheels with 12.5s I was at 31-32 psi. A 7'' would be like 28. Make for a semi squishy ride on the highway which isn't that desirable.

I've seen people do it. But not what I'd recommend to anyone.

And im my experiance any 315 is not nearly as wide as a real 12.5. They do tend to be a bit taller though haha

 

Meh I never chalk tested but I used to run it at 33psi for it to be comfy but now I run 35-36 to save in gas on the long trips. When it’s a dedicated adventure truck tire wear isn’t as much a concern.

 

I don't think that's true. If you're driving a thousand miles or more to get to your destination one way, tire wear is of concern. They aren't cheap and while we all know they won't last long due to trail abuse. I prefer to try and be nice to them on the highway as those are "useless" miles for the tires performance that I initially got them for. If that makes sense.

I've ruined a few tires on the highway and it pisses me off when I do that. If you take care of them on the highway they last a bit longer. So worth worrying about to me at least.

 

May not be the same style tire you guys want to run out in the middle of the country, however another tire route prerunners (the actual prerunning ones) are sometimes using buggy / sxs tall skinnies. They're 35x10.5 or so. Lot lighter for the lower horsepower V6 trucks. Good info on having a wider tire to keep the pressure better for streets - otherwise for a trailer queen, here's Bonzen's truck on starfish stockers since he built it:

Class 10 tires is more like it, 35x10.5R15 Bfg's. They only come in 15's.

I can't find it right now but there's a 4 door fully built quad cab S10 running 35 or 37" Tensors which also come in 17's. I'll keep looking.

Getting more and more common for mini truck, zuk and XJ guys to run them as options in 15” expand for sxs’s and decrease for trucks

@Squeaky Penguin Back to the topic of wheels. You had mentioned you liked the look of machined wheels. I was scrolling through Instagram and came across a post by SCS in which they are going to be releasing a “machined” Ray10. Take a look. Something to keep in mind as well. I may try and swoop some too as I want to step up to 17s for 35s here soon and I also dig the machined look.
