With all this talk about popcorn ceilings, could someone tell me what type I have?

We’ve always called it textured. I don’t know if that’s the official term.

Tri sodium phosphate. Looks like @Drainbung gave you an example already. It’s fairly cheap but make sure you wear gloves and eye protection. I use the three bucket method. 1cup TSP and hot water in one, two with just hot water. After tsp dissolves take a sponge and wipe down area, scrubbing to remove the tar and nicotine. Rinse sponge in one of the hot water only buckets. Then rinse area with the other bucket of clean hot water. I ran a fan after I was done. It removes the tar, nicotine and the smell. You can use vinegar and water if you want. I just don’t like the initial smell.

That’s called rosebud texture. It is a slap brush method where you draw/dab a brush in a circular motion while the mud is still wet.

The premixed is a little pricier but the clean up is a bit easier. The same PPE caveats still apply.

Btw…if you ever have to repair that ceiling texture this is what the brush will look like.

All wrapped up in the spare bedroom.

Lets start with a before pic. Not great, not terrible. Popcorn ceiling, unpainted door, too dark of a paint color, piss poor baseboard job, closet door from the 60's that never closed right, etc. The usual fix and flip stuff.

New doors, flat ceiling, new baseboards, decora recepticles, and now Ive also got a place for a washer and dryer in the hallway.

Thats next on my list after finishing the hallway. I did one half the yard last fall but it got cold quick and I started stuff on the inside instead of finishing.

Gotta get it done soon though as I pick up a puppy in 4 weeks.

Hah, that's my reason for putting one up. They're due in June so they probably won't be ready till July, so I have some time.

Little more clean looking. Also uses paddle style light switches instead of the standard toggle switch.

Oh. I'm on the fence about the Decora ones. About half my house has those and the other half is normal.
Get dust in the slots that way. I've been switching most of them to the Eaton hidden fastener plates.

    16477892846248453013416310977245.jpg

Ignore the little bits of paint on the plug. The painter before me didn't care to tape outlets.
