Facebook Display Problem

For you PC Gurus.

I'm running Windows 10 and the latest version of Chrome.

All of a sudden my Facebook page started looking like this:



Instead of the normal way which is this:



Ever see this?

I've tried all the usual tricks: clearing cache and cookies, reloading, logging off and back on etc. I tried re-installing Chrome but that did not help either. I tried disabling all the extensions, but no go. Facebook will display properly in Incognito mode but I don't want to use that all the time. Facebook will also display properly in Firefox and Edge, so it has to be a Chrome thing.

It acts like it is trying to display Facebook in Mobile Phone mode rather than PC mode. Now there is a way to go into Chrome and going into Developer mode and switching between PC and Mobile, but that does not seem to work. Besides if that was it, it should affect everything in Chrome; not just Facebook. Going to other sites in Chrome work just fine.

Try Firefox or Edge and see if you see if it shows up the same way. Also wait a couple days and see if it is still like that with Chrome. Sometimes updates break things unintentionally and they implement and push out a fix soon after. (I work in IT).

 

sorry what's not right, are you making the content blurry, or are you saying that FB is doing that?

 

did you install an extension to chrome?

A couple things:

I blurred some stuff on purpose for privacy reasons; the blurring is not the problem.

I have tried Firefox and Edge and FB appears properly, so it's leaning towards a problem with Chrome.

Even if I manually disable all the extensions, the problem still happens in Chrome.

No, that's not it.

 

It looks to me like it’s loading the mobile version of facebook for some reason, I don’t use fb so I could be wrong though. When you are on the website is it showing it as something like m.facebook.com or just facebook.com?

 

Yes, it is showing the m.facebook.com URL. If I manually delete the m. from the URL, it automatically reappears when I hit enter.

 

OK. I got it to work.

What I had to do was was first log off of my Google account, then clear the cache and cookies. I'm not sure of the logic behind that but it seems to have done the trick.
