Does anyone else have have a spongy feeling brake pedal on their 2022 Tacoma? Normally a new Toyota has tight brakes that almost throw you through the windshield. Mine depresses like a sponge before grabbing hold. Think they need to be bled or is that normal on these models now?

i have a 2016, if i am stopped at a light and press a little harder on the brake pedal it creeps down a bit, then 10 seconds press again and creeps down a bit more. i guess i might try in my garage and see if it eventually gets to the floor.
somewhat on the spongy side i guess

Tacomas don’t have the most high tech brakes. Drums in the rear. Plenty of braking power there, but you might need to get used to the pedal. Probably needs a firmer step and a little control.

Mine feel normal. You can always have them checked for its first 5k svc. Or if you are really concerned call the dealer .

Yeah, I'll have them check it. My 2019 Sport didn't feel this way. But it was made in San Antonio. Thanks.

No Super grabby after proper bed in, 850 miles now.

Little getting used to coming from 4 wheel disc's for sure, just adjust your stopping distance and let the heat and friction build instead of forcing the truck to stop in a shorter distance.

I have 1700 miles on and my brakes still won't come to a firm stop. I've had to allow much more distance. Thanks for your response.

Our 22 does not feel spongy. We followed the 850 suggestion. Big difference coming from a 4 wheel disc vehicle.

With my 2020, since new I've noticed what feels like an unusual amount of travel in the pedal before I feel the brakes. I've also noticed the rear brake lights don't turn on immediately either. I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with the brakes, just different than I am used to. Still feels like I have the desired stopping power.

I just chalked it up to the drums. My last vehicle was an 07 Touareg, it had 6 piston calipers in the front and 4 piston in the rear, that thing stopped like you hit a wall. It was a bit of an adjustment lol.

Spongy brake pedal is often a sign of a faulty master cylinder. If you feel it's not as should be, I'd take it to the dealer to check for possibly a defective master cylinder.

Can always go test drive another tacoma to see if the brakes feel the same.

Check the brake fluid level and color too. We have seen random issues popping up here on new 2022 models.

My prior vehicle had four wheel disk brakes....I don't feel any difference with my Tacoma.
