Not just 2wd, all trucks with the 8.4” had mechanical LSD up to 2008, in 2009 all trucks went to eLSD.

I have the same style leak (just on the fill plug) with my '08. I've had the truck since new and have always changed the oil myself reusing the original washer and torqueing it to spec and this is the first time I've seen it wet. I figured the washer was finally used up, but now I'll check the breather valve. Thanks!!!

Ive heard that repeatedLy jacking up your truck on the diff can crack a seal. Maybe a wife’s tale but always kept that in mind for if when there was leak.

Jacking it up by using the differential housing shouldn’t case any problems.
The problem is when you catch the lip of the jack plate on the rim of the third member.
Or on other vehicles the cover. When this happens you are putting a lot of pressure on the rim of 3rd member. (Or cover, depending on differential).

I’ve jacked my truck up in the spot shown numerous times. So far no problems.
I typically use this location because it makes it easy to place both (2) Jack Stands under the truck at once.

Yes, I know this differential is leaking too. I simply used this picture because it shows the jack point better. (Plus, it’s not uncommon for the diff to leak on these trucks in the places show. However, you see it more on the 3rd Gen trucks it seems)
