Long story short a couple birds have decided they hate me or love my truck. They post up on my rear views and poop all down the doors. They even perch on the door seal and fight they self in the mirror. You wouldn’t believe the amount of bird crap all over my doors and mirrors. I don’t park under a tree and for days I couldn’t figure out what was happening here till I saw it. Washed and watched it happen. Again and again. Washed yesterday and this morning it’s covered again. I rolled up light weight shop rags in the windows thinking with them blowing in the breeze it would scare them off. Nope. Bombed again. Wife’s idea to put bags over the mirrors. So after I was it this afternoon I’m gonna try that. Birds are robins. Must be maiting season or something.

Those birds are seeing themselves in the reflection and trying to fight the intruder off. There is a good chance they have a nest nearby where your rig is parked.

    Couple options:

Park further away from any trees.

Print out a few big mean looking owls and tape it inside your windows facing out.

Cover the mirrors and drape a shirt or towel over the window.

It's been a while since I've had that problem and these worked for me. Had a robin's nest 5 feet from my truck. They are very protective creatures.

lol no solution but can relate.

I would constantly wash bird poop off of the passenger side of my car.

One morning when I was coming out to go to work I saw the actual bird, looked like a Robin too, on my car where we kind of looked at each other before he flew back into my neighbor's near by tree. And actually after that I don't think it occurred as much.

Only possible solution I can think of is to park somewhere else or use a car cover...or a pellet gun...

For lawns they suggest hanging up CDs/DVDs those type of discs, where I think the movement or shininess might keep them away. Also maybe you can try planting those fake snakes near by to try to scare them too.

    Good luck!

edit-I guess I should've clarified I was picturing this scene from the movie Failure to Launch (watched it as a date movie) when mentioning a pellet gun, it doesn't show it in this clip but in the end they try to save the bird and give it mouth to mouth or something like that. So the pellet gun comment was somewhat joking:

I just picked up a motion sensor owl that lights and makes noise from Amazon. I just put it up, so don't know how effective it is yet, but I know they use fake owls at my marina and on buildings.

It will work, but possibly to well. The robin most definitely has a nest near by that they are protecting. Any reflection of themselves can cause them to attack it.

You don't really want to scare them to the point they abandon the nest, rather work with them to ease the stress caused by the reflection.

I've had a mockingbird attack the roof before. I just sat back and enjoyed the show.

When I was a tween many years ago, I remember when we had a VERY aggressive robin brutally attack its reflection in our bathroom window.

She hit the window with so much force over and over, she finally cracked the glass, splattered bird blood all over the glass and caved in her beak killing her.

We later discovered her nest in a low branch just a few feet away from the window. We thought she was just a crazy bird, but figured it out with the nest what she was doing.

Ever since then, I have been on top of robins acting this way in early spring.

Mine was a Cardinal. SOB was relentless, I would chase him off and he would fly up in a tree and mock me. As soon as I went inside he would be back at it. I hung a couple of old t-shirts over the mirrors and that helped a little but then he would just peck at the windows. My solution was to clean out the garage and park inside.

That cardinal picture is hilarious! I have a some finches (I think) nesting just a few feet from my truck in the carport but so far no mirror attacks, but we do scare momma bird every time we go out the carport door. I enjoy watching birds and our yard is pretty much a wild bird sanctuary with all of our feeders. We just put up with pooping and other stuff that comes along with them.

That is a pretty bird. We don't have those in the PNW.

We had this ring neck pheasant on our fence the other day. Spent a solid 30 mins just perched there looking for it's mate.

Let us know how the owl works out. I had the exact same issue with a robin last year was perched on my SUVs rear view and pooped and scratched up everything. I tried parking farther away, shooting it with nerf darts, and even taped on small mouse traps to scare it away. Nada... just went away when the nest was gone. Hated that bird...

Ditto.......or just learn to take a joke

I assumed the ":D" would convey that

Was it the pic? I ask b/c you didn't quote the post 2 above mine about the bb gun, so it was obviously a pic of something I posted, not typed words.

I hope the folks advocating killing these birds are just kidding. These critters are just being wild birds, doing what wild birds do! Unless local wildlife is doing some real (i.e. expensive) damage, then I just let them be.
