I envy you that ability. I have had a few MRIs, and I have this little thing with claustrophobia. I always have to ask the Tech to give me a small towel to put over my face, because even though I keep my eyes shut, I know that if for any reason I were to open them while in the "sausage tube", and I saw the roof right there an inch in front of my face...... I would completely lose my shit.

The very first MRI I ever had was when I had my spinal tumor, and every other test imaginable had not shown what the issue was, so after 3 days, the doctor's fed me into the thing...... I was terrified. I ended up being in it for 3 1/2 hours. Since they had no idea what they were looking for, or where "it" might be, they had to scan every damn inch of me to find it. And of course, my luck being what it often is, when the doctor's reviewed it, they said "Well, this is way too delicate for us, we're sending you to <the level 1 Trauma center medical center in town> because they have top notch neuro-surgeons that can get you the best outcome. So, the next day I get across town to the other hospital, those doctors said "This MRI is too low quality, we need a better set of images, we're going to give you another MRI with our scanner.". So, even though they knew basically what and where to look for, I was still in the tube for another 2++ hours. They even gave me a Valium, but it didn't help.

I have had a few additional MRIs over the last 10 years, but none that lasted longer than maybe 20 - 30 minutes. Still not my cup of tea, though.

And how in the hell anyone can sleep inside an MRI..... those collapsing magnetic fields are louder than a jackhammer on your skull. Kudos form me on being able to sleep through that!

Sorry to hear that, Chuck. I guess we all lose muscle mass at some point in our life. People would fear me, now they're just scared of me. I wish you all the luck in the world, buddy & thank you for your service
