    Hi there,
I have 2015 TRD sport manual, when I engage the clutch there is a clunk that feels like it's coming from the back somewhere. The clutch engages but it's kind of like the drive line has extra space somewhere so when the power comes on it moves and there's a bang from the impact. The only way to avoid is to very gently engage the clutch then gently apply the gas. This is definitely more "sloppy' in higher gears. I was told by a shop I took it to it could axle wrap, but I don't think so as the problem is somewhat intermittent and sometimes works fine. Another thing that is interesting is that the problem goes away completely when vehicle is in four wheel drive, no banging. Any hints? Could it be just the transfer case?
    Thanks

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I’ll guess driveshaft center bearing and welcome to TW!

Thanks steve! I will look in to that, although the fact that it doesn't occur in 4wd makes me think it's furthur towards the front.

Two thoughts in addition to the center/carrier bearing mentioned 1) Check your u-joints for play 2) if your truck is lifted look into the ECGS front diff needle bearing replacement.

The fact that the clunk goes away when you engage is an indicator that #2 may be your issue, but start with inspecting the carrier/center bearing and u-joints to rule them out.

Link for info on needle bearing:

Thanks for hint, will research that. The truck is lifted but that's very recent addition and the truck has been like that since I (foolishly) bought it a couple years ago...

Do you have lift blocks for the rear?

I get that too, and I’ve greased the spline and everything was fine afterwards.
That was awhile back, and I’m due again. Here’s a helpful video.

At the very least, make sure that the rear U bolts are torqued to 75 ft/lbs.
