My ‘16 with smart key came with two fobs but only one tailgate key, but it did come with the camera plugs. And I bought it used ... from a dealer.

My ‘17 OR came with the full sized key and the harness plug / cover in addition to the two fobs which have a common key for doors and tailgate.

Just as possible locations - check console, under both rear seats (most likely near Jack) and rear storage behind seat backs. Heck, check inside back pocket on passenger. Someone could have moved it when looking/checking the vehicle.

My 2018 DCSB TRD 4x4 came with 2 fobs, 1 full size key, that opens and locks all keyed locks and a grey and white connector assy for the camera harness when tailgate is removed.

I have one of these from my old 2009 that I just sold so I don't need it anymore. Not sure what models it fits. If anyone needs one let me know and we can work something out.

My 2021 did not come with the plug covers, although they are mentioned in the manual. (I looked everywhere -- in the glovebox, in the storage bins under the rear seats, under the front seats, in the console, etc.)

No separate tailgate key. The regular key works in the tailgate lock. The lock appears to be electric, and appears to snap open or shut when triggered by the key.

Just got a new 2022 TRD Sport Premium and noticed the same thing. It did not come with the connector kit to plug off the backup camera when removing the tailgate. I check with my sales guy at the dealer and they could not come up with this kit. Nobody from the dealer knew anything about this connector kit. We actually checked the other 3 new Tacoma's on the lot and none of them come with this connector kit. Guess Toyota deleted this kit.

I did find this diagram from another thread, which has the connector part numbers. Which are available here:

Have you verified your 2020 connectors? They are NOT the same type.

You are correct. I crawled under my new 2022 TRD Sport tonight and verified that the connectors are different that the previous gen 2.5 connectors. I looked into the 8-way connector that Toyota uses on these Gen 3 Tacoma's. They are the following part numbers:

    - 90980-12519, Housing Connector M
    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem...year=2021&submodel=&extra1=&extra2=&filter=()
    - 90980-12520, Housing Connector F
    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem...year=2021&submodel=&extra1=&extra2=&filter=()

It would be nice to know what the connector kit part number is. Make it a lot easier to just order that.

    Get it elsewhere, cheaper.

Update: Toyota no longer supplies the connector kit for the tailgate removal. The kit P/N 82824-04050, PLASTIC CONNECTOR HOUSING, is the new kit for the 2021 and newer Tacoma. I had to purchase this new kit, which was $41 CAD. A bit over priced for just two plastic connector bodies.

I was able to get my connector kit free under a warranty claim. Just point out that the manual makes no mention of it NOT being included or Optional item. $41 is cheap compared to what I was originally quoted. Then I pressed them on it being missing and should be a warranty claim.
