    this is great feed back. thank you a million times over.

    do you think this repair is simply replacing said parts? Why would the dealer recommend replacing the ENTIRE front diff and axel? i know they are greedy. I guess what i'm asking is how do you determine if, say, the front axel and diff really do need to be repaired?

    ECGS bushing and an axle seal will probably fix you right up. It's about $80 in parts and $300 in labor.

    They charged him 40 cents a squirt for brake wash spray on the t-case (washers?) Wtf. Petty after a 4k quote for a 600 dollar total job with everything invoiced.

    There has been a few posts about the axle slipping out of the carrier. That could be all that is going on. I'd start with the easy fix of replacing the axle, bearing / bushing, and seal, then see how it pans out.

    Also, note that a Yukon version is on Amazon. I used that one on my Taco about 10k ago:

    IMO what you are describing is very common and only requires those parts, it is highly likely that it is as simple a that
