I like the oem OR wheels. I think they look good. I bought some pro wheels, because they are lighter. But I want to have them blasted or machined. I’ve been on the fence about attempting to machine the face of a few spokes to see where it gets me.

Thanks man. Not gonna lie, I just kinda stumbled across those mending plates. And somehow the holes were perfect for the carriage bolts, and somehow the holes lined up perfectly with the holes on the security brackets.

I thought for sure I was going to have to fabricate something. Sometimes it's better to be lucky. :D

If you have a good lathe or access to one that would definitely be unique! I think it could work with just the outer squares machined. You would definitely be a trend setter here! New mod! :goingcrazy:

If you’re removing material, even lighter wheels is where it’s going to get you.

Today I did a rear diff and engine oil change. I’m pretty much finished changing my truck now except for regularly scheduled maintenance.D65BD5BB-8C36-41C8-AC6A-1A799F6142A2.jpg90482D9D-D29E-477E-A620-ECEA128F82C2.jpg

I really need to get into the habit of tracking maintenance and mods like that. That's what "right" looks like.

I’ve been doing this to my vehicle since 2013, huge game changer for me and it helped with the resale value of my previous rig

EDIT: all these notes are in the Toyota app as well I’m just used to and prefer having a paper copy

I’ve been tracking in the mytoyota site, helpful as I think it transfers if you were to sell - also electronic

lol, I'm a career IT guy but I'm one of the weird ones that doesn't use apps for anything. Even unplugged the DCM in the truck. Toyota can just keep wondering about what happened to the truck they sold until I sell it again in September.

I did this to my 2008 2nd Gen Tacoma that had 249K miles on it. I left the log and the used (49) oil change washers in a Zip-Lock bag inside the glove box. Hope that info got passed to the new owner so he sees that this truck has had TLC for its life. Someone got a sweet one! High mileage yes but 100 miles a day, mostly tollway, round trip will do that to ya.

I believe the two bars are to stiffen the frame by "triangulating it" and NOT protection for the catalytic convertor. They should be definitely tightened up. People (including me) take them off to install skid plates (which actually take their place in stiffening the frame).

Ended up designing and fabricating my own bed rack / crossbars. Pretty happy with how they turned out. What do you think?

I also don’t like Toyota knowing everything but I feel like it doesn’t actually matter since I carry my phone on me most of the time anyway

They are meant to protect the catalytic converters from obstacles. If they were meant to stiffen the frame they would be welded on. :notsure:

    COOL Stuff I can't afford . . . But I bought anyway!
Well, this all happened today. Finally got around to hooking up the hidden light bar in the grill with the auxito switch panel. Works great. And less than half the price of the switch pros.

Also did a little upgrading to the soundstage inside. Added some infinity kappa tweeters to the wings to help balance the front soundstage.
