Chevy guy just text me and ask me what we want for it. I responded as much as we can get, make us an offer we can't refuse.

This reminds me very much of the old timer(I'm talkin 90) that I buy and swap license plates with at the flea market. He will always say what do you want and I say as much as possible. He will never throw the first number out.

Then he used my tactic on me. Anytime anybody offers me money for something, the first offer I grimace and shift a bit and act like it would physically pain me to accept that. Think less dramatic Fred Sanford. Usually to my first offer he throws his hands up and walks away. Honry ol sob. I appreciate these details on how the dicker goes.

The car man made us an offer and it turned into me telling him he lost a customer and we'll never set foot on their lot again then him apologizing trying to back peddle. No thanks, have a good day was my last message to him before deleting his number

Some dealerships full of donkeys. There's one particular Toyota dealer that I won't step foot on again. Before I purchase my new Tacoma I was looking at trading my DD for a used one. Long story short the best offer they give me for my car was 30% of what any dealer in town was selling it for. I told him that fact and he look me in the face and said, " but your not a dealer". I told he could stick that where the sun don't shine. They then wanted close to maximum on the truck I was looking at.
Ultimately, the Tacoma I ended up with a couple years later was delivered to that same dealer, but I had a different dealership go get it for me so I didn't have to see those crooks again

 

I took my truck in for an oil change 2 years ago and they wanted to give me a free appraisal. I agreed to it, a very low offer was made, and I asked the salesman if he wanted me to smack him now or later. I'm sure I'll be asked again on Friday since I'm going in for an oil change. They'll talk about how clean it is and can't believe it's only got 50,000 miles on it. How clean is it? It's got black shit growing on it cause I never wash it!

 

This is exactly why I lick my chops at the opportunity to beat up on car salesmen with the back and forth. I was whole heartedly disappointed when the wife found what she wanted online at one of these new dealerships where the price is non-negotiable. Greasy sons a guns the lot of em.

Ugh, new or even used vehicle prices now are crazy. I think it might be a good time to just hang on to what you have.
Would really like to get my daughter into a newer vehicle but her 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara only has like 94k miles on it so I'll just keep it rolling along for now. Wife told me the other day that the windshield wiper motor is going kapoot so she ordered a new one for it.
