Geez, that's bullshit. They only low-balled you because they know they can get $70k out of it and wanted to increase their profit margin.

True, if I get 5 hours in a row I call it a win.
Sad part is that 5 hours is actually an improvement for me. Had trouble sleeping all my life.

Edit: And now I have bizarre dreams too...

Here's more destruction. Four bearings went bad on this machine. Three have been bad and we didn't know it, the fourth one was the squeaky wheel that clued us in. Destroyed the shaft on the head, and on the post holder, also the outer race to the housing got egged out. This was made it 1974, there's not parts list available or diagrams, or anything besides when it was made. It's also been retrofitted and modified lord only knows how many times over these years. The post bearings are metric, the head shaft bearings are standard. Sorry for the photo spam. Also including a link to this thing running to give an idea of how abused it gets.

    Nah, I don't agree.

    Car salesmen have families, too.

    It's just a game.

We have limitless sources of info.

If you let the salesman bend you over, you only have yourself to blame.

    Do your homework 1st.

    Make it a game.

Regardless, I do love hearing the responses from the car salesmen. It gives us info for when we have to play the game.

Agree to disagree. They are in the business of hurting people. Bottom feeders. By the way I wreck salesmen. I'll spend all day in that bitch and still walk out.

I unintentionally about gave a salesman a heart attack. But to my defense he tried screwing me into buying a truck way out of my pay scale. So i didnt feel bad at all walking out. Leaving him standing there redfaced as an apple

I've only walked out of a dealership once.

We'd been haggling with the salesman for a while and told him instead of having to go "check with the sales manager" again, just bring them in the room. The sales manager came in and the first thing they said was "maybe you need to be looking at a cheaper vehicle." Aaaaaand we're done. If you're not going to haggle, don't waste my time. We weren't asking for the impossible, just something fair.

Different time at a different dealership, I had the KBB value for my trade in printed off. They asked to see it so I gave it to them. My print out never came back. Next time I went in, I brought two copies.

I will say that the Toyota dealership my wife got her Highlander from in Minneapolis was fantastic. They were good with the trade in value, took $1,500 off of the sales price for a door ding and also paid for the repair when we had it fixed in Fargo.

    Dealing with Salesman:
I'm a crappy negotiator and the only vehicle I have ever made payments on is this truck.
It was at a dealer 75 miles away -- exactly what I wanted. I called to see if it was there and to ask them to hold it. (tipping my hand, dumb I know)

The girl on the phone said "don't worry, it has already been here 4 weeks, another week and it goes to the auction."

I'm buying this truck, but naturally want a couple of bucks off. They start off with "market research, hem haw, area pricing comparability, yada yada.."

I say "look fellas (3 of them), it has been out front 4 weeks, another week it goes to the auction ;) -- seems that two door, bright orange trucks aren't a hot seller right now -- hell, I told my wife it was red (fib) -- and besides millennials can't shift."
They gave me $400 off, probably just to get rid of me.
