I get it guys and I am going to go down to the hardware store and spend 15 minutes of my life and a few more of my dollars to redo something that should have been done right the first time. Not a big deal.

I am a little sad that some people have such low expectations when they make a purchase.

This isn't 'Nam. There are rules.

Rains 164 days a year in Portland.

Wonders why bare metal screws are rusting.

Literally the only bolts that are rusting. Picture of the light shows plenty of bolts all around it on the truck that have been there much longer that don't look like they were kept in sea water. Own a garage like a grown up so it is not out in the rain like a poor all the time.

Yeah you are probably right. I just didn’t expect to be told to source my own bolts. I don’t mind a little corrosion here and there but you got to see these things in person. They are the worst I have ever seen.

Do you have a marine supply house near you (preferably a commercial supply house and not a West Marine)?

The local shop near me has a solid supply of stainless fasteners. Everything rusts out here on the Atlantic coast so stainless fasteners are a must.

At the end of the day its just an example of buying quality vs cheap right? When you buy cheap you are essentially telling yourself i can handle the problems when they arrive. We are talking about just going to the store matching bolt threads and done right?

The bolts are probably black oxide coated. Cheap to buy and they look nicer than zinc-coated, they will surface corrode due to the outside elements. I used to live on the seacoast of NH and my bicycle parts would have surface corrosion due to the salt-laden humidity.
Yes, stainless hardware would be nice and would cost a little more.

I have said it once and i will say it again... Caliraised LEDs are cheap Chinese direct lights (same ones on Amazon) with better marketing and 500% price increase because overland jabronies will pay anything for a product with an instagram

Use 400 series stainless bolts. They are marine grade(416)and can be found at McMasterrCarr or a marine hardware store.
300 series, which those probably are, will be rated corrosion resistant. The will rust some but wont effect the integrity of yhe fastener.
