SOLD: ATOTO A6 Android head unit for 2nd gen Tacomas

    20220324_011841_resized.jpg

This is a fully functional, 2DIN Android head unit. It retails for $250 on Amazon. It is used -- I had it in my truck for about 3 years, but have since upgraded to a newer unit. It is in good, working condition, with no notable degradation or damage since new.

    Features / options:
    -2 GB RAM
    -32 GB Storage
    -Touch screen, dims with headlights
    -Programmable button colors
    -Built-in GPS--excellent reception w/ in-dash antenna
-WiFi w/ external antenna, connect it to a mobile hotspot for internet on the road.
-AM/FM radio receiver. I'm going to be honest, the reception isn't as good as a brand-name receiver. Works fine in urban areas.
-Front SD card slot (I used it with a 32GB card)
-Front USB jack + 1x rear USB jack + 2x remote USB cable (4 USB total)
-Line-level outputs (+ subwoofer output) for external amp, but does just fine driving OEM speakers from the built-in "4x49W (lol)" amplifier.
-Front AUX input jack, if you inadvertently time travel to 2008, you can totally connect an iPod!
-Bluetooth compatible; works with nearly any cellphone (hands-free calling, bluetooth audio); also works with BT OBDII adapters and other BT accessories (e.g., keyboard, mouse, ...) Not sure about "Android Auto" or whatever the Apple version is, that shit is stupid, I've never tried it.
-Supports most apps from Google Play store, with notable exception of Netflix. (There's a workaround if you are tech savvy)
-Remote camera input (RCA jack), you can hook up any aftermarket rear-view camera. To trigger its display, you must find a way to access your backup light circuit, and fish a wire from there to the head unit, and connect it to the wiring harness. I tapped in at the driver's side kick panel. I'm not sure how or if it would work if you have an OEM backup camera.
-Aux A/V input (RCA jacks): If you inadvertently time-travel to the early 1990s, you can totally hook up your VCR or laserdisc player!
    -Read specs and details here

    INCLUDED:
    -A6 head unit
-Wiring harness, fully wired for 2nd gen Tacoma* including steering wheel controls**
    -External antennas: GPS and WiFi
-Remote microphone, for installation atop your A-pillar or up by the rear-view mirror (optional, also has built-in mic)
-Remote USB cable with 2x USB jacks
-Panel/bezel for 2nd gen Tacomas, which I believe is made by METRA. I'm not sure. It is a generic 2DIN aftermarket panel. See notes below.

*It worked in my truck, which is a non-JBL '05 Tacoma, with resistive steering-wheel buttons (**not CAN). You program the function of each steering-wheel button in the settings. Wiring modifications or additional parts may be required for JBL-equipped or newer model versions with CAN buttons!!!

    NOT INCLUDED:
-You need metal brackets to physically attach the head unit to the dash. I *think* they are part of your OEM head unit, but I can't be sure: I bought my truck used with a pre-installed aftermarket head unit, and used the brackets from that install to mount this (ATOTO) unit as well as its replacement.
-You need a plastic part to attach the clock/airbag/hazard-light-switch thing to the bezel. If you have an early 2nd-gen, your truck has this part already, just transfer it to the new bezel. Later models... I'm not sure, I think you will need to buy this part from an earlier 2nd gen. This is a well-known issue for aftermarket radios in these trucks, search for related threads.

This is the bracket you need in your dash (one on each side).

    MAYBE INCLUDED:
-I have (or had) a specific OBDII adapter that came with this, but I can't presently find it. If you are serious about the purchase and really want this, let me know, and I'll try extra hard to find it.
-Somewhere I have a camera for this thing, which lets it function as a DVR. Unfortunately, it sucks as a DVR, so this is a waste of time, but if you want to be personally disappointed, I will try to find this and include it.

    REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS:
-This thing is from 2018, it runs an older version of Android, and it is not particularly expensive. It works, but is definitely a bit on the slow side!
-It doesn't take a SIM card, and you can't connect it directly to a cellular modem for data. You have to use a mobile hotspot (WiFi) for mobile internet.
-It is used. A factory reset has been performed. It has signs of typical use, but no major damage.

    PURCHASE DETAILS:
    -Price: $80
    -Shipping: Available at buyer's expense
    -Local pickup: Pasadena CA
-Conditions: As-is. I can try to help answer questions if you have install issues, but no guarantees there.
-Payment: Cash or Paypal Friends and Family only.

Are you suggesting this head unit has a built in flux capacitor? :spy::wink:

I've purchased three in the past year, one each for two AC units and my electric furnace. Every time my HVAC service comes we have a great time discussing replacing the ICE in my Taco with Doc Brown's machine!
Christopher Lloyd and his wife had a place in western Montana, upriver from my sister in the 1980s, and the lady at their video rental store enjoyed his visits.
