I bought one of these cubby hole drawers and I keep one of my ignition keys in to so I don't have my keyring dangling from the ignition. This fits perfect in the cubby on the left side of the steering wheel. You have to take the rubber mat out though.

    That's cool.

I can't keep my FOB key inside the cab otherwise my truck beeps at me...letting me know, "hey dummy, your FOB key is inside your cab". lol

Unless, I slide the actual key out of the FOB and put that in there. Hmmm, what purpose/benefit would that make for me? (Thinking out loud)

I only have the FOB key and my house key on the key ring...so it's not bulky in my pocket. Now, I will add the gas cap key...

My locking gas cap and keys look like the one pictured in post #112. No CEL light in 6 years.

It's more so to prevent someone from pouring foreign fluid/substance and ruining the engine.

There's a story roaming around here about it.

Most lowlifes don’t know they’re siphon proof though. Someone tried to siphon mine about a year ago and when they didn’t get any gas, they smashed my factory gas cap (probably out of frustration) and they knocked my filler tube out of its collar (must have smacked down on it hard with their fist or something). No permanent damage, I was able to pop the filler tube back into place, but instead of replacing my cap with another OEM one, I got a locking cap to prevent anyone from even trying to siphon again. Yeah, he probably could have drilled the tank, but apparently he didn’t have a drill and a shallow bucket with him. I suspect a lot a thieves aren’t sure of the material of each car’s gas tank too, and may not want to risk drilling into a metal tank and blowing themselves up over a few gallons of gas. A locking cap also prevents someone from pouring stuff in your tank. Ya never know, shitheads are everywhere.

This ain't the media. I'm talking about word-of-mouth. Do you have any idea how criminals work?
The crackheads stealing gas a very small percentage of others that are stealing it.

I used the location in VA closest to my location...can't remember. There are no O'Reilly stores in DE.

I purchased a Stant 10504 directly from O'Reilly Auto Parts online, and the one I received has worked very well with no CELs in the month I've had it on my 2012 Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab 2.7L engine truck. I had tried another cap at AutoZone that you could just screw off even when it was supposed to be in the locked position. The Stant 10504 correctly unlocks/locks as follows.

To install and lock the cap:
    1. screw the cap onto the tank by rotating it clockwise until you've heard at least three clicks
    2. insert the key into the cap
    3. turn the key fully clockwise to lock the cap
    4. remove the key from the cap
    5. at this time trying to unscrew the cap by rotating it counter-clockwise will just spin the cap (it will click) without it coming off
To unlock and remove the cap:
    1. insert the key into the cap sitting on the tank
    2. turn the key fully counter-clockwise to unlock the cap
    3. remove the key from the cap
    4. at this time you unscrew the cap by rotating it counter-clockwise until it comes off the tank
My cap did not have the embossed "S", but it did come with a plastic tether and five different size plastic screws to attach it to the car. See attached photos.
