I have not (yet) due to COVID related reasons, but know quite a few people that make regular trips. Baja is the safest part of MX for sure, but the border towns are sketchy at best. Fill up and get your ish together in San Diego, cross and don't stop till you are past Tijuana is the advice I've been given. Past that, lots of friendly faces.

Basic rules of international travel apply: you're a foreigner, and stick out a little being "not from around here". Be friendly, and don't draw undue attention to yourself. Enjoy the rest. The world is a much friendlier place than you'd be led to believe.

Yeah I have zero worry about the locals down there. I'm a little concerned though about the corrrupt police since I will be sticking out like a sore thumb. Apparently they just pull you over for no reason and threaten to arrest you unless you pay them off. Guess I would just need to keep a roll of 20s stashed somewhere in a cubbie. :notsure:

That's a myth in baja talking to folks, but does infrequently happen in main mexico.

$20 in your shirt pocket so they find it on a patdown is a strategy I've been told as a just in case though.

Roll of $20s would be a very bad idea due to customs and crossborder narco-trafficing. Great way to end up in an interview room when you forget about it on return.

Easy way to bust bribes in 3rd world countries is to ask to pay it at the local police station, so you can get a receipt. Usually freaks them out enough they send you on your way.

Yeah good idea. Thats what I kind of meant. 200 bucks or so and keep a 20 in my shirt, 20 in the center console, glovebox, etc. That way if I get stopped.... " Here you go officer this is my last 20 I'm sorry" LOL

Yeah, last night I threw a jerry can in the back to get gas for the bike while I went to go fill up the truck.

$15.47 for a full tank of premium in the bike, $36.83 for a little less than half a tank of 85 in the truck. :angrygirl:

@RyanL we have a taco truck that comes to the office from 11-1 on Thursdays, you should come give it a try.

I'll warn you though, the smothered burrito should be called "The closer" because my schedule is shot the rest of the day.

If you need me, I'll be asleep in my office. ;)
