Transmission Maintenance for 2nd Gen Tacomas : when is the right time?

    I have a ScanGauge 2 mounted on my steering column... plugs into the OBD2 port. I have one of the 4 real time parameter displays set to TFT (trans temp). I used that to get the temp right when I serviced my tranny.

    As for the flush, you can do a pretty good job of this DIY. Top the tranny up, disconnect the cooler return line and send it to a clear graduated container, then run the motor a bit until it just starts to have bubbles. Repeat that several times. Anyway, that worked well for me.
