So... today is my last day at my current job / employer. I start a new job at a new company on Monday. This will be a permanent work from home position, and after a very long time in my field (Information Technology engineer), I am finally getting an opportunity to grow and move up. I've been at the end of the growth path for "individual contributors" for a long, long time now, and finally in this new job, I will be moving into management. And of course that also brings a very nice pay increase. In my 30 years in this field, I have only ever gotten a pay increase of >3% a total of two times. So basically I have barely been keeping up with inflation and general cost of living increases for most of the last 30 years.

Side note: My wife and I went to a local sammich place for dinner a few nights ago. It's a chain, but not sure how many locations they have. Mr Pickles is the name of it. Similar to a Subway, Jersey Mikes, etc.. They had a big sign in the window "Now Hiring - $22/hour to start". My wife and I looked at each other like :eek::eek: WTF?!?!?????? I mean, this is California and all..... but back when I started my career in 1992, with a freakin' Engineering degree, and working for a huge, well known computer company, I only made $18/hour. Of course my new job is paying $25/hour, but still........ kidding of course. :bananadance:
