Hello everyone, hopefully I can get some ideas from you all.

I got my apache 9800 case IP65 rated and I tested it today and unfortunately, water is leaking inside.
Being ip65, it should in theory not leak inside from direct water spraying… its harbor freight, I know.

For some context, I put the bolt in from the bottom then on the inside of the case, I did a rubber washer, regular washer and then nylon locking nut. I also put silicone on each hole before putting the washers and nuts on. Based off of that, I do not believe that the water is coming in from the bottom and therefore it must be where the rubber seal is on the sides. There was no water pooled around the holes that I drilled.

I don't think a complete seal is formed when I latch the case closed. One of the pictures below will show the seam where the two parts seal.

I am thinking potentially of putting a layer of silicone around the plastic that connects to the rubber seal so that when closed, ideally it will form a better seal. Not directly on top but rather the sides of the plastic if that makes sense…

    Any sealing ideas would help!

You already answered any question about quality and water sealing you had when you said “its harbor freight, I know.”
    Buy once, cry once.

Don’t see a point in spending that much money on a case then drilling into it.

But thanks for the helpful feedback!

They don’t leak and will last a lifetime. You’re welcome.

I honestly don’t see a point in commenting when you aren’t giving any actual help. I foremost stated what I did and that I am not spending an additional $100-150 for something such as a case. I have another one of their cases and have no issues with water leakage… after testing it so that so based off of that testing, I therefore bought another one. Had my original one leaked I wouldn't have gotten a second one.

@TacoWorldDan absolutely baffled my man. No leaking now. Did a second round of testing. Still going to do a layer of silicone i think
