all of a sudden my sub is not working, when i go to check everything i feel the

woofer and it is dead,I pushed slightly on it and it kicked on and seems to

have a small popping sound when played at low volume but still sounds good

at high volume..is there a way to check out both the amp output and the

speaker with a voltmeter.the speaker goes in and out of working and i need

to narrow down if its the amp or the speaker. the amp is a 5 channel amp

    pushing 1 10" sub.Thanks for any help....

a little more info ...the amp is a jl xd 700/5 pushing 1 10 " IDQ woofer ,the amp is turned up 3/4 on the woofer and i never maxed it out all the way

check your wires inside the box. Check the wires from the sub terminals to the vc. Put an ohm meter on the sub and push the sub in slowly to see if the resistance suddenly drops. The resistance will fluctuate while you move the sub slowly but it shouldn't drop suddenly.
