Minor trans shudder on 20 Sport eliminated

2020 2WD Sport auto with 75K miles was experiencing random and minor transmission shuddering during shifts. The dealer performed an 11 qt. flush with Toyota fluids and the truck now shifts very very smooth like a new vehicle.

Service tech indicates that he has seen the 3rd gen Tacoma shuddering issue on vehicles with 40k miles or over 120K miles, so no real trend.

As an FYI, the vehicle had the transmission ECU update installed two years ago.

 

Wife’s 2016 Acura had the shudders. We took it in thinking it was fuel or something but the tech told us that it was the torque converter and across the board of manufacturers were having the same issue, something to do with these 6-8 speed transmissions they are using. Acura actually performed the same treatment but flushed the tranny 3 separate times and it totally fixed the shudder. Drives great now. I’m wondering if Toyota did the same sort of procedure it might fix our tranny issue. Glad yours got fixed. Mine is a 22 and I do feel it sometimes. It’s minor but annoying.
