Not all 3 leaf springs were recalled. There also was a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) where certain criteria had to be met and still under warr.. A junk yard will sell what ever they can.

It happens more than you think.

Scrap truck gets towed to dealer, we do recall, they take it back and immediately remove the new springs.

People sell junk all the time. Why would this be surprising to anyone? Don’t buy it, problem solved.

One of the stories I heard back in my military days was someone being assigned to guard a yard full of trucks, armed only with a flashlight. Here comes a hoard of machete wielding bandits to chase him away to steal the trucks only for the leaf springs to make more machetes out of. True? I don't know. The term I hear all kinds of bs everyday, defines the time period of my life.

My truck was way out of warranty when I took it to get the recall done a year ago.

Ain't no way I'd pay that much for them. I'd maybe pay $50 for them if I needed some quick leafs since mine snapped on both sides.

If a recall applied yes even out of warr. it would be covered. But if it was an issue that was just referenced in a TSB and out of warr. most likely it would be out of pocket. Back in my days as a Ford tech there was a program that was not really advertised about that Ford, the dealer and the customer would split the cost in thirds. Essentially the customer paid a discounted price for the part and the dealer ate the labor. Don't know if Toyota ever had a program like it.

Safe to say the springs crack and break on these trucks often. I bet people buy them to fix a truck.. not the best solution imo

Mine were recalled because when i took it in they put new leaf springs on at same time they did the frame inspection.

I'd rather have had the frame replaced though Lol.
