TW, bestow your knowledge and experience!

My wife and I should be getting the keys to our new home this Tuesday or at latest...Friday.

I'd like to "seal" up the driveway cause you know, shitbox.

Just wondering what some of you have used successfully for your own driveway.

    Requirements are -

DIY, as in either a roll or spray on application

Great against the sun, though I understand continued protection would be through multiple applications whether it's annually or so

Tough against the potential use of brave cleaner, though not absolutely necessary as contact would be minimal

I'm in CA, Fresno County specifically so those that know, we get a lot of sun out here.

@El Taco Diablo bet you run into this with new-to-be homeowners

@xtremewlr because you're a big DIY'er case you did something similar

One product someone mentioned last year was Siloxa.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Believe it or not, not many people ask this about their driveway. lol

People ask about sealing their fence, painting their garage floor, etc, etc, but nothing about the driveway.

Totally understand why you are looking to do it though.

You are 100% on the right track on the silane/siloxane based sealer though. It penetrates the pours of the concrete.

One thing you need to keep in mind though is if you thoroughly seal the concrete, it will be slippery. You may need to add some kind of granular additive to add traction.

Also... ALL sealers will need to be reapplied to keep the seal. If you wait too long between seals the areas that have the highest traffic will start to be noticably different than the areas that get less traffic.

I do have the Rustoleum garage paint in my garage.

I put it down over 15 years ago, and I've done all kinds of stupid shit to it. Would highly recommend.

Meant to say brake cleaner above.

But yeah, I just hate to be "that guy" with power steering (ATF) stains in our new driveway. I'll need to own a pressure washer anyway for hitting the front, rear, and side of the house once a year. Just want to make "cleaning" the driveway simpler as I want to prevent oils from soaking into the pores of said concrete.

    I like the article posted.

Pressure washer is definately a good thing to have. I went years without one.

Jen bought me the biggest Ryobi electric at Home Depot a few years ago. It's a fricken game changer. Not just for the house, makes coming back from muddy trips WAY easier to manage. Washing the trucks, way easier.

Because in the end... we all know this is really about how it affects the truck more than anything.

I had a Ryobi one as hell at my old house!

Granted I only used it 2-3 times, it really made washing the underside of the Taco way easier especially with the roller attachment.

And yeah, this is all more for the shitbox as long as the new home benefits as well :anonymous:
