Im also getting a pretty strong gear oil smell which I've heard isn't uncommon. Anyone figured out the reason/solution for the smell? Thanks

That happened to me when I first did the swap, I noticed it in 4lo. Couldn't find any leaks anywhere, including the vent hose on the shifter. I haven't noticed it since then though.

I cut an inner tube to fit over the shifter that lays on top of the TC to prevent any fluids from coming up to the body should any leaks occur.

I get the same thing. For me I just live with it. More important things to do.

I want to sincerely thank the TW community once again, for providing the information and knowledge needed to get this swap accomplished. Dash lights and everything work perfectly. This has to be one of the greatest threads going. I look at every tacoma now differently.....

I have 2 items remaining to do:
1- need to get the T-Case lever adjusted with the help of a welder's torch (scheduled for Friday) so that I can get into 6th gear with the transmission, and that will hopefully also take care of the minor side of the plastic housing rub that is also present currently when into 4low.
1a- have the welder mesh the FJ and Taco rubber boot frame. [EDIT: Complete]
2- buy a nice shift boot from Redline Goods to finish this out. [EDIT: Complete]

My shift lever ended up looking like a rotten pile of dog shit but it ended up working out really well. I could've remade it once I found where the angles needed to be but I didn't think it was worth it.

Mine is a lame auto, but same idea. They all look a bit, 'home made' imo, but no one see's that part anyway. It just between you and us :hattip:

This week I had the new case lever modified so I have 6th gear again... But it still rubs the side of the stock plastic housing in 4Lo, but I can live with it....
I also see now the reasoning behind the Toyota dampered shift levers......

I'm not a welder, and sure wish I was... the ring should have been a bit longer and wider, but again, it will work....

Do you have the part number for the terminal pins from Digikey?

So my 2018 4runner T-Case swap has been done for a bit. I got a new boot for the shifter and the gear oil smell has pretty much gone away. I am throwing a P2772 code though when I pull it into 4wd:
"What is P2772 code meaning? The Transmission Control Module (TCM) monitors the Four Wheel Drive Low Switch Circuit signal. the TCM sets the OBDII code when the Four Wheel Drive Low Switch Circuit is out of the factory specifications. Four Wheel Drive Low Switch Circuit Range/Performance"
I followed the wiring diagrams and all dash lights function properly. Anyone encountered this before?
    Thanks
    Jake

Is it possible you have the 4wd and 4 low indicators in the wrong place on the case (swapped)?

Did you swap out the AAD tubes? If so, maybe jump to the other quoted post and start reading there.

Thanks for the replies. I did not swap my ADD tubes. So far I'm happy with the switch to activate the ADD (kind of nice having 2wd low). When I pull the lever back to 4HI, I get the appropriate light on the dash. Then when I go forward and to the right into low range I get the 4LO light on the dash working properly so I assume I have the sensors in the correct place. Maybe my 4 low sensor is bad and that's what started the whole problem of the truck not going into low range with the knob that then pushed me to swap in the manual case.
    Thanks again for the advice.

Does anyone make a 3D printed insert of some kind for manual trucks with a twin stick?

Would like to still have 2 cup holders at least.

    Pictures?

I was thinking of hallowing out the center cupholder section, using a piece of kydex to 3M tape over the hole and making slots for my twin sticks on the side and either reusing the two large cup holders if I can make them kinda drop in inline or 3D printing two that would fit.

Don't really need the mini cupholder it usually just collects change and receipts/small trash.

Now the big question is how am I going to run my sticks like that when the time comes.

Will an FJ case also bolt right up to an RC62F trans without swapping the input flange, beyond what's needed to install it to a RC60F?
