you’re saying on a 2012+ you can’t get the speedo working via work gear period? If you wire into the yellow/red wire going into the cab it will get the speedo working.

The semi float is cool and all but for most a 5k+ rear axle is a lot vs a 3k one that is FF.

I’m saying that you will get a speedo readout on the ultra gauge. But you wire into the ABS ECU and feed it supply that input will not register on the speedometer.

now this gives you cruise control and if you know your truck you know how fast your going based on rpm but the ultra gauge or scan gauge will display your speed properly.

where are you getting a fully done FF axle for $3k is what I wanna know…

Speed sensor on t-case to Dakota digital interface to cluster should be entirely doable to make the speedometer come alive. As far as everything else goes, you’re getting way ahead of yourself if you’re not already running some form of software to tune.

And I don’t want to hear “I can’t tune in Cali” you guys have a pretty crazy street car scene. If they can find a way around it, so can you.

Well my 2wd solution is to feed the ecu rear speed sensor with a signal from the front speed sensor. It’s as simple as disconnecting the rear speed sensors and jumpering the signal from the front to the rear speed sensor wiring. You still lose ABS but that’s always been the plan since it tries to kill you offroad anyways. This was my first test to see if it worked. I have since figured out how to jumper it right at the abs ecu so be it only requires about 6 inches of wire.

Think using the term “few” may be a bit of an exaggeration. I just feel lucky that what I did didn’t cause smoke. But there is still time.

I am 4x4 and had all the intention of just using t case sensor to feed my speedometer directly. You don’t need to feed it to the abs ecu. The FSM shows manual trucks feeding straight to the cluster.

I have all intention of ripping the whole abs system(electronic and hydraulic) out of my truck and being 4x4, it’s much much easier. I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of testing because I wanted to know if there was a way to completely remove one from a 2wd truck. @Airdog found his solution, that we know. Live with the abs unit still on the truck, remove some lights from the dash. Done.

I’m just toying around with my curiosity to take a 2wd solution farther than redirecting a sensor and having the abs module live there just to condition a tone ring signal.

Also @Airdog solution should work the same for the hydro boost trucks as well, though neither of us have that set up to test.

I’m just glad I have a simple 06 manual and don’t have to deal with all that crap. Super easy for me to tune my speedo off the tcase and remove all the factory crap minus keyless entry. Gonna pull my abs unit completely out when I 4 link in may.

Maybe I missed it, but did you figure out where to wire the manual t-case sensor into the harness for an auto? If no-one buys my truck I'll be doing that conversion since I'm deleting the ABS system one way or another.

I have not looked or verified if there was a point in the wire harness closer to the t case. I do know however you can bring it straight to the the speedometer.

Yes, worm drive on tc straight to the speedo (2wd auto with 4x4 convert here).
What about a gps speedo sending the signal to the speedometer? Will this allow the ecu to read correctly? My buddy has one on his 06? 4x4 auto and everything works with no dash lights on. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/izl-s9020

In theory it should work. At some point if you lost gps, and the speedometer read 0, might set off the p0500 code. I’m not sure though, I don’t have a gps module to test. All I have is a the Dakota digital SGI-100BT to recalibrate the T case VSS signal, skipping the trial an error for finding the right worm gear ratio.

I haven't done the tcase sensor yet, was waiting until we tackle the full float install along with ripping out the archive sua for the JD kit.

About 100 rpm’s give or take. It’s similar to switching ac on. I just tested it. I don’t have a YouTube account to post a video to if you care to see it on an ultra gauge.

I can go measure mine on my truck if you want. When you say small OD do you mean the middle part that’s for coil clearance?
