    Good job OP!
I did this same thing back in the lat 90's to a full size Chevrolet. Bought at auction, replaced a few airbags, replaced dash (damaged) and replaced front end. Drove it a year, sold it to a buddy and bought a 4Runner.

My side curtain airbags trashed my headliner also. I thought I read someplace that airbags must be installed by someone certified to do so.

No money, all went to truck...
What's going on with the bed and cab alignment in the second picture of the original post? Something looks funny there.

My headliner was OK. No damage that jumps out.

I have no idea regarding the certification. I don't think anyone checks. I am still waiting to connect the two remaining airbags (in the seats). Once that is done, I'll reconnect the battery and see if the dashboard displays any errors.

    Alright.

The car has been put together.

However, I still need to reset the fault codes and calibrate the pre-collision system and lane departure system.

The problem I’m running into: the OBDII reader and car are not communicating. Power is on, all the fuses are good. Tried three different readers, including a CAN OBDII reader. Same problem.

I did a bunch of research, and tried a bunch of proposed solutions. No change.

I was pretty amazed seeing more Chevy Caprices in Iraq than you see here in the US. lol. Maybe not when the car was in it's prime but in 2004, yea there was TONS over there.

Governments have their own version of Craigslist...

repin the wires? you had the dash out, did you chase wires? wonder if one jimmied loose during the collision or rebuild

probably should start with seeing if the port is receiving power though

Port is receiving power, the OBDII reader is powering on. The truck starts, drives. All the buttons in the dash work.

Couldn't hurt to chase wires back to the ECU looking for crimped or split wires/faulty connections - but other than that im out of ideas

I appreciate your input. That may be the next thing we'll have to do. I'll keep this threat posted.

This will probably be the last update... (barring questions)

I took the car to the guy that deals specifically with electrical issues in cars and trucks. Initially, after a preliminary look through, he could not identify what was causing the inability to communicate between the truck and the OBDII reader. He was asking whether my truck sustained any water damage. Obviously... my answer was NO.

He basically had to check all the connections, and chase all the wires. He figured it out. Apparently, there was a short in the circuit somewhere. He was surprised that none of the fuses were blown. He also mentioned that this is not something that it is easy to find, which made him think that the short was done intentionally by someone. Go figure...

However, the issue is fixed. Additionally, he calibrated the pre-collision, blind-spot monitoring, and dynamic cruise control systems, and reset the fault codes. Total expense $700.00.

Today we passed SMOG, registered, and insured the truck. WE ARE ON THE ROAD!

And the grand total cost of this truck comes to..... (drum roll) ..... $28,327.23 (excluding taxes and registration fees).
