2020 Tacoma. Twice this winter, after starting truck with remote start. I go outside, truck is still running. I open door and truck keeps running. It should shut off. I step on brake, shift into reverse and truck stops. It's now completely dead. Won't do anything. I disconnect the negative battery cable. Reconnect and it starts right up. I talked to dealer about this. They said they've only heard of it happening two other times and have no idea what's causing it.
    Anyone else had this problem?

Hmm, sounds like a short somewhere. Still under warranty? I'm the opposite of good with electric work, but I'd think tracing power through wiring would be a start? Something is drawing power when it shouldn't.

Let me know if your dealer knows what caused it. Mine has no idea. I just carry a 10mm wrench in console, for when it happens.

Finally got around to taking it in. They said the DCM malfunctioned and ordered a new one which should arrive early next week.
Have you had any more trouble out of yours? I haven't
