I have a 2016 Tacoma that only has about 2,000 miles on it and the interior light came on while I was driving and I don't know how to get it to turn off. Has anyone experienced that?

    Sounds like either
    A. Switch for the light got bumped into the on position or
    B. a door is not closed all the way or theres a bad door switch leading it to come on, but this would likely show up on the dash as well

Doesn't sound like a door sensor issue, third gens make a crazy loud buzzing/alert noise while in drive with a door open.

Checked the doors and there is no warnings on the dash. Checked the switch and it is in the doors open position. The light just came on randomly when I was driving, which was super annoying as it glares right into your eyes.

    Thanks for your posts.

Didn't someone else on here have that same issue?

I believe it was on a 3rd gen also.

Something could have shorted out in the body control module and will cause that.

Try turning the light off manually by pressing on it.

I also have this issue. I have a 2017 TRDS with the OEM cab lights (not LED).

When the cab lights are set to on while door is open the light will randomly turn on while doors are closed while driving or parked and when truck is off but it is only half as bright as when it turns on when the doors are actually open. This doesn’t happen all the time. When the switch is set to always on the lights are fully bright and when the switch is set to off they are all the way off.

I have checked that all four doors are fully closed.
I have read through two other threads about this topic but they seem to be fixated on guys who have switched to aftermarket LED cab lights and still don’t seem to have a solid solution.
The only cause I could think k of is water getting in but I recently took my Tacoma in for the third brake light leak recall but the dealer said they did not see any water getting into the headliner and it was a rainy day. They said the recall is free but if I wanted them to look into this issue they would have a diagnostic fee since I’m out of warranty.

Anyone found a remedy to this problem?

I’d imagine OP has a few more miles by now considering he posted that in 2016 haha

Go to settings on screen and light controls are there. It has options like how long light should be on, when and stuff like that.

    I wish :(
I set it to the lowest (7.5s) and all interior lights stay on unless I manually turn them off with the switch near the dome.

A lighting gremlin im going to have to hunt when I find the motivation
