    Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 2016 SR5 Tacoma that is completely stock, and I would like to get some bigger tires on it, and add a small lift. I'm thinking around 2" in the front, and maybe a little in the rear I'll aim for close to level with less rake than from the factory. I really like the stance of the stock TRD OR trucks.

So, I found a set of 2021 TRD OR shocks and coils for sale locally. They are dealer take offs with less than 50 miles on them. My question is: would these shocks and coils lift my truck at all? Or would I just be switching to softer shocks?

I searched the forum quite a bit the past few days before posting this, and I found several threads that talked about the difference in ride quality, but nothing about the ride height.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! My goal is just to get to something similar to that TRD stance for a reasonable amount of money. Thanks!!

    No.

Also, shocks never lift anything. Springs are the support mechanism, and shocks control the spring motion..

To expand on what airforceb2cc said, all tacomas have the same ride height with the exception of the trd pro. The pro has a 1 inch lift (2017-2021) and 1.5 inch for 2022 pro.

All levels of 3rd Gen Tacoma have the same suspension height regardless of trim level, 2wd or 4wd. With one exception, the TRD Pro is 1 inch higher in the front only. The rear is the same as every other 3rd Gen.

5100s on middle notch up front and 5100s on rear will raise the front 1.5+” and level the truck. Like this with stock size Ultraterrain ATsB40AF331-8103-4D08-9D05-6C7557BD88B0.jpgAC530338-CC6A-4979-BAA0-8D91624BC7AC.jpg

Ok. I was thinking that the TRD OR springs on the factory shocks may add some lift. I knew the springs would do the lifting, and not the shocks themselves, but I might should've worded that better in my initial post. Sounds like the OR shocks and springs are not what I need then. Thanks for the input!

That's exactly the stance that I'm wanting! So this is just shocks, and factory springs? Or did you also upgrade springs?

Get yourself the 2/1" 5100 Bilstein Lift. They recommend you use the stock coils, so no need to spend extra money there. You will be required to buy a 1" block for the rear. This is basically the OEM TRD lift at a fraction of the cost.

Some nice 265/75/16 tires will look great under there without any cutting, rubbing, etc.....

Nothing wrong with those OR shocks, as they are much beefier the the SR5 or Sport shocks, but as you have learned, they don't lift the Taco.

Another quality entry level lift option is the Eibach Pro-Truck Stage 1 lift. Very similar setup as the Bilstein 5100. Would require a block in the rear as well. As supply issues are out there, thought I would atleast mention an option.

I am running the Eibach Pro-Truck Stage 2 kit with 1" rear blocks, myself. I am very happy with it.20220309_113958.jpg
