Recently went for my first manual transmission oil change at 30k on my 2020 trd sport, couldn’t get the fill plug off so waiting for some bolt extractors. Anyways just looking around and saw all these cracks…not sure if casting lines or cracks? What do y’all think?

    thanks for the input.

casting marks, mine look similar or worse with 70K+ miles, nothing to worry, but stripping the plug sucks... :(

Did you use vice grips on that fill plug?

Used a 15/16 it was just super tight from the factory. I ordered some sockets for removing stripped bolts so hopefully that works.

Were you using a 12 point socket?

Yea I messed up, it was all I had so I sent it. Won’t do that again. Hopefully the sockets I ordered for stripped bolts work. I think they will.

Unless you kept at it after you took the picture a good 6 point socket would probably get it off.
You can buy a single impact socket and grind the taper off the end, keep the socket cool when grinding it.

I think all Toyota bolts are metric so definitely try to find the smallest metric socket that fits snug, I learned that lesson the hard way too after rounding off a few

Ya want to go metric for sure. Metric 6 point...hang on let me check my box... Ok, if you can get a 23 on it that would be the way to go. Hang on..."do I have a 23?" Nope, no 23mm in my set. So I must have used the 24 6 point. So I would try a 15/16" six point. Make sure it's on there and make sure you are turning left.
