Added the tags light off kit when the back-up lights are on. Definitely can see the difference on the camera.

 

So got a package from ECGS today so figured I’d go ahead and get the rear done up today so I could do my roof rack tomorrow. Super easy project, bout an hour and a half in with no swears and about 3 beers I was reinserting the axles when disaster struck! I noticed the driver side axle tube o-ring was broken in half. One part was stuck to the axle and the other to the housing.

And of course Toyota parts dept was closed and none of the local shops stock it. So there she sits until I can source the o-ring!

 

BECAUSE PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM LOVE TO GET WORKED UP OVER BLOCKS. They much prefer to spend a lot more money on on AAL or all new leaf pack that makes the rear end really stiff and jarring.

 

Headstrong Off-road makes a 3 leaf AAL progressive that doesn’t use the overload leafs and is not stiff or jarring.

Looks like they are between $215-250 with U-Bolts these days per their website. Blocks are below $100. And if your having a shop install, the installation cost will be higher. Plus, the actual lift height can vary once installed. Blocks are obviously consistent in that regard. 1.5 inch blocks on mine didn’t degrade the ride quality in the least. But different strokes for different folks. They both have their purposes. I was mostly just joking around because everyone on here seems to think that blocks will make your truck fall apart immediately after installation. I’m not saying blocks are better, just that they are cheaper, more simple, more consistent in lift height, and a perfectly fine option for probably the vast majority of Tacoma owners out there. Basically, they are a reasonable option and don’t warrant the outrage they cause on this forum.

 

I've thought that a "drive over" exchange bay , much like the old "PITS". could be automated. Filling up with a replacement H2 cell, or battery pack would be as simple as driving on to wheel stops. (The auto park systems could do this with your eyes closed) .

Pull in. swap out, drive away. The charge appears on your card. and you never get out of the car ;-)

It would take some standardization, and some infrastructure, but the system would be heads and shoulders above "charge stations".

 

Does that mod require a change of insurance agents?

1” blocks might be okay. Anything over 1” can cause headaches if you actually take your truck off-road. That is the general consensus around here. Bigger blocks contribute to axle wrap. But 1” blocks probably will not be an issue, especially if you don’t off-road it. I went with a 3 leaf AAL because I take mine off-road every chance I get. But like you said earlier, different strokes for different folks.

Finally got my Dobinsons MRA suspension installed. I didn't have the room to do it myself and it was a PITA to find a shop
near me that would install parts that I didn't buy from them.
Hats off to Eastside Speedshop in Woodenville WA. those guys are great!
