I have a decent build now on a 2020 TRD OR. With the gas prices like they are I am starting to accept the reality that a lot of the mods I did are not needed but were more done for aesthetics. Unfortunately with gas prices where they are and other factors I am going to be re-tooling my truck to make it more of a reasonable build for light off-road and travel. This includes ditching my larger tires and rims and moving back to a more stock size. I am thinking of going with black steelies and was curious about the different looks out there with different tires. I have a toytec 2.0 lift, and don't plan to remove that from the truck but will just drop it down some.

I am curious to see 16 and 17in builds with steel rims and no or slight lift. If you don't mind let me also know what tires you are running and how much lift. Thanks for everyone's ideas as I try and re-tool my truck to fit my current needs.

Steel is much heavier than alloy. You need lightest wheels and tires to improve mpg.
    Otherwise, no steelies.

Stock gives you absolute best mpg. Shoot for that.

Any recommendations on wheels if I should avoid Steelies? I found same very basic steel wheels that were in the 25lb range. I am open to anything

for reference I currently run KMC KM545 wheels with 285/70R17 Nitto Ridge Graplers.

Steel wheels are good for off roading I hear. Much sturdier and if you bend a rim and the tire debeads, get a big hammer and bend it back into shape.

The basic 16" steel wheel on my SR are 32lbs so I can't see how a decent made 16 or 17" could be lighter than that.

265/70r17 KO2s on Pro Comp 51s. Not too much heavier than the stock steelie ok the SR. I had to get a spacer to clear the brakes though, which I found out after already getting them.

just curious but how much has your monthly gas costs increased to consider a retool of your build?

i think i'm paying maybe $50 more a month so honestly not worth to get new wheels and tires but maybe yours is hundreds more i dunno.
