If we leave Summit around 9, we'd be in Madison around 10.

Not too far from there is a nice gravel road worth checking out. Kickapoo Valley road.

Once you go to where it ends on north end, you could hook around to the road on the west side of the river back south to hwy 60, not sure if that one is gravel or paved though.

Edit: not sure if mine is even working, so feel free to bring or leave it.

I'm also on GMRS and CB. I need to get off my butt and take the HAM test...

I’m good with meeting up and caravaning out. Personally I wouldn’t mind going early to check out some of the hiking trails.

    Same as @WiscoPat

I'll keep rocking CB until everyone else is on GMRS, then add or switch.

I'm working on my bed for this trip! Need to get it done.

I ended up adding some shelving. I kept the bottom sections separate so that I can remove the platform without disassembling it.

Here it is loosely mocked up. Nothing is screwed together yet. I had to redo some cuts at an angle as the floor doesn't actually sit level to the cargo area.

    Same as everyone.

I have a new Cb I bought before last summer’s camping trip.
(Midland 75-822) I’m using it till it stops transmitting!

might buy a new GMRS Black Friday but I rather buy other stuff like a Jet Boil! Lol

My CB radio is on my shitlist. Last time it was only good for making whale-calls.

GMRS ain’t got no style, but I’m getting awful close to pulling the trigger. I was even cruising truck stops yesterday looking for a unit to buy impulsively.

Nice thing with GMRS is there is no test for the license and that license covers your whole family.

The license is also good for 10 years, plus simple handhelds can be as powerful as a hard-mounted CB, maybe more.

I'll be requesting my license soon and get a few inexpensive handhelds to hold me over until I have a roof rack (likely next year) for more capable hard-mount GMRS and HAM radios.

I’ve been getting at least 3 miles with my handheld. That’s plenty for our needs.

I would spend a little bit of time looking at the CB set up. Maybe it is something easy to fix like a loose connector or something with the antenna mount

How early does everyone want to get rolling Saturday morning?

Last year we planned for 9:30 at the parking lot in Lansing, and wound up a few minutes later.

I'm sure that I could be ready to leave camp by 8am or any time after that.

Should we shoot for leaving camp at 8:30 again? Lansing around 9:30, on the road by 10?
