I have been summoned three times in my life, two times my jury pool was dismissed before we needed to show up. The only time I wasn't dismissed, I ended up serving on a jury in an auto accident trial for 4 weeks. I had to be excused because my [now ex] wife was having surgery, so I didn't even get to see the end of the trial. I was actually very excited to have been chosen, but I had a rather unusual reason for my excitement

Well, this was the year I decided to pursue a long time dream and go to Law school, with the intention of becoming a Prosecutor. Which meant I would live a good portion of my time in a courtroom. Never having been in a courtroom before, much less seen an actual trial, I was fascinated to get first hand experience with the whole bloody mess. I was not disappointed, it was actually a lot of fun - for a weird-o like me.

I did go to Law school... for one year. Then I went to borrow money for year #2, and found out that because I had a bankruptcy in the past, I was ineligible for student loans - both Federally backed, and private (and I looked everywhere for loans....). So, I had to go back to my previous life as an I.T. Engineer.
