When I was a youngin I was hired by the highway department and a trucking company on the same day. I took the trucking company job. I often wonder how my life might have gone if I took the other.

 

I should be more mindful of my audience by now, but it seems I still forget.

highway dept probably has better benefits. I know they have REALLY GOOD ones here in CALI

I was thinking of the benefits that an extremely lazy person such as myself can appreciate. I asked myself “Do I want to stand out in the hot sun all day with a “slow men working” sign or do I want to sit in an air conditioned cab with a stereo?”

Do you mean the state hwy. dpt. or county? I'm applying for the county. I know the full timers at my current job get IMRF (IL. Municipal Retirement Fund) but part timers dont get it. The only benefit I get at my job is a free gym membership but I've never used it.

 

my Father in Law does it as a Supervisor and loves it!!! makes good money doing it too
