Hello, new guy to the forum here. I got lost following the previously posted links so I've signed up.

Mobtown, you've read my mind and one upped me!

Would you consider this Hidden Recovery Bar receiver winch mount capable and how bad is this going to hurt my bank account?
2009 4x4 SR5 with the tow package, V6 4.0, no lift mods, everything is OEM in consideration I'd imagine. I'd like shackle mounts and receiver.

    Thanks!
    My luck prevails.
I'll have a look although I have been searching for quite a while for something less undercarriage exposing offering the utility this would have.

Thank you, the only difference is that I plan on putting a winch on a 2" ball mount for the receivers at either end of my pickup.

This is a lot closer although not powder coated and no shackle mounts. Color me picky?

Over the years I've had a few customers buy one of ours in bare steel then welded in a receiver tube. Personally, I'm not a fan as it severely reduces approach and departure angles and when you need it most and the truck is stuck and possibly in a lousy position you now get to wrestle around a heavy winch and cradle. Personally, I'd get a decent winch up front then go buy you a cheap winch somewhere to store in your bed or whatever in the rare case you need it on the back.

I don't remember the story as to why he did this but it turned out well.

    Thanks again for your efforts.
The closest I've found to the subject of this thread is mounted a bit higher and doesn't involve as many trim pieces to be manipulated. Besides the picture you've posted is a 3rd Gen, isn't it?
This will likely be the direction I'm taking with a flip down license plate holder. :hattip:

In my case I see greater versatility at less expense in the route I'll be taking with what is already in place or being built.

I have 1/0 wires ignition energized through a solenoid tucked away to be run to the rear of the pickup in setting up to charge my 300 Ah LiFePO 4 battery off the 240 amp alternator through a 60 amp dc/dc charger as well as the intention of feeding the winch placed on a ball mount out back.

I'll be able to mount one winch either up front where I have more 1/0 already ran down to an Erickson plug for jumper cables or the winch.
I don't have to open the hood to pull power off the battery/alternator and another Erickson plug out back sliced in will do the same back there, it's been in the planning/building processes for a while.
To each his own, it's just my preference and something that has been in the works.

I almost went with the hidden hitch receiver thinking I would do the same as you. But eventually settled on the US Off-road winch mount bumper.
Winches are heavy and for basically the reasons mentioned above I opted for a winch not mounted on a separate hitch. Plus where would I store it? And it would be bouncing around in the bed, then have to hook up electric when I needed it.
I’m sure you’ll make the best decision for your needs, but wanted to chime in.

Mine will be bouncing around in the access cab behind the passengers seat with the tools and recovery gear.
    ;)
