My wife recently crashed my Tacoma, awful, yet blessing in disguise… insurance covers it and I have an ‘allowance’ through the collision center. Ie they gave me the quote and I can swap out for aftermarket here and there and pay the difference.

I got them to remove the front valance and I ordered the 4wp front guard.
Still need to get lights for it. Any suggestions?

I was going to change to a trd pro grille though another thing I wanted to do was the anytime backup and front camera mod.

However, I read so many posts of people questioning if the camera will interfere with the TSS. Seems to be resolved, however, my question is:

If I order the new trd pro grill (with camera hole slot), as opposed to the old one will it fit my 2018 trd off-road? Will the anytime camera fit in said slot?

I also dont know if those links are the best. but you get the idea. I know i could go aftermarket too. not lost on me. just hard finding something reasonable in canada.

Did she survive? Maybe I am misunderstanding the blessing in disguise part?

Oh ya... shes ok. the blessing in disguise pertains to getting 'free' work/alterations.

Whatever you do with it, don’t forget to bank some guilt, it will help with future mods. “Yeah Honey, it looks okay... but... it will never be the same. I guess they did an alright job...(a single tear rolls down - think about the Native American in the littering commercial they ran in the 70s). I’ll be okay, it just takes time...”. Don’t get greedy and overplay it, just go far enough that she will feel a twinge of guilt every time she sees it and automatically agree to any mod you bring up, ‘cause, you know, it’s part of the healing process. Remember, the first rule of guilting the wife, is to not talk about guilting the wife. All you need is some knucklehead, or a kid blowing it for you.
Anyway, thats how I hear it works, from friends and stuff, or some guy at work. Don’t forget to throw in a “I’m glad you’re okay, that the only thing that’s important to me.:anonymous:

This post has ruined many a man’s future mods budget because the wife looked at Tacoma world. Hehehehe

Is it fair to say it’s improbable that this thread will get steered to address my initial question?

Sell the front camera mod with “maybe if we had the front camera the accident could have been avoided”

The oem pro grill with camera mount built in will work fine on your 2018. Same with the anytime backup camera mod. Here is my 2018 off-road with the new oem grill and the anytime backup camera kit. I used a different camera instead of the one that came with the kit. There seems to be a few different camera options that work just fine.

Improbable, nah -- just not very likely. (all in good fun)

Tangents are something we do well here, that and :spending:.

Sweet that’s the answer I want. And also FYI. I have dash cam footage of the accident. Which will be used in a power point for our future kids when they learn to drive.

so just to clarify you have a 2018 with a 2021ish grill? Mind sharing the part number?

also was there any major issue with the anytimebackup camera? Or just subpar? I am probably going to order the anytimebackup soon so wondering if I should omit the camera on the order? I think that’s an option.
Basically if you give me all your parts I’ll order them all!

OEM Pro LED headlights and a 2020+ SR grill, would be a better use of your allowance.
