So I bought some oem leds off of fb and either got damaged in shipping or it was sent that way. I was planning on opening them and painting some of it black but i wanted to ask if this could be fixed. The lens has fallen from the seating position and is loose in the assembly currently.

If you are willing to open them for painting. You can upgrade the projectors while you are at it. They are definitely not the new OEM LED style, but instead the LED drl from earlier TRD models. An upgrade either way, and some new projectors such as RX350s would be plug and play and higher output.

Would I need a ballast for this application? I’m trying to find more info on the use of an HID to run safely.

Diode Dynamics makes HID kits for that light. They perform well and there is a quality ballast option.

Nothing about a retrofit is plug and play...

I think you should chat with @no vtec 4me... he has done more retrofits than any other member I know. Yes, you'll need ballasts to run the RX350 HID's.

Edit: my retrofits from @no vtec 4me ... they'll be for sale eventually. Never ran them...
