I recently bought some rock sliders from Cali Raised LED. They’re the Trail Edition 25° w/ bump out. They're really low profile. I love the look :D

As far as the product itself goes, it seems to be pretty high-quality. However, their resources for self installation are a bit underwhelming. They did post a video on YouTube walking through the install on a double cab short bed, but there are enough differences from the long bed that it’s a bit confusing if that’s what you have.

The text based walk-through on their website is not great. I’ll leave it at that.

On top of that, there was no parts list included in the packaging, so I had no idea if I had all the parts I was supposed to or not.

All that being said, I finally got them installed. I didn’t record the process, but I did record a walk-through after the fact to illustrate some of the differences and show where the bolts go on the double cab long bed (this might vary slightly depending on your year of manufacture).

I’m happy with the final product. But the install was a bit of a pain given the complete absence of quality DCLB install resources.

Hopefully this is helpful for others with a DCLB.

    https://youtu.be/F9VSaedBMkY

ps ~ @CaliRaisedLed please consider using metric bolts. Also you should have somebody review and update the install walkthrough on your site and include a parts list in the packaging.

    ***EDIT to add photos***

Keep in mind, this is a 2016 DCLB. There may be some additional holes that line up on other model years, but these are all that lined up on mine.

Driver's side, photos are in order from front to back.

Bolts are NOT numbered in order of installation.
Bolts 1a and 1b are the bolts that screw in to the "handle" backer plate inside the enclosed portion of the frame.
Bolt 2 is the bolt that screws into the backer plate that you place inside the frame cross member.
Bolt 3 is the shorter of the 2 "clamp" bolts that clamp to the lip of the frame.

Bolts 4 and 5 are the smaller bolts and require both a small washer AND a large washer.
Bolt 6 is a smaller bolt and the first one I installed.

Bolt 7 is a large bolt with backer plate installed backwards to accommodate the brake lines along the inside of the frame (photo to follow).
Bolt 8 is the larger of the 2 "clamp" bolts. Only 2 clamp bolts are needed per side for the DCLB vs the 3 mentioned in the Cali Raised video for the DCSB.
Bolt 9 is another large bolt with backer plate.

View from the inside of the frame for driver's side bolts 7, 8 and 9. The blue square is the mounting clip for the brake lines. You have to pop it off the frame to install bolt 7, and once bolt 7 is installed, there isn't enough clearance to replace the mounting clip. This is the one I mentioned padding with a rubber buffer of some kind.

Passenger's side, moving from front to back...

Bolts 1a and 1b attach to the "handle" backer plate inside the frame.
Bolt 2 attaches to the backer plate that was slid into the frame cross member.
Bolt 3 is the smaller of the 2 "clamp" bolts.

Bolts 4 and 5 are smaller bolts with both a small and large washer.
Bolt 6 is a smaller bolt (the first I installed on this side).
Bolt 7 is a smaller bolt.

Bolts 8 and 10 are larger bolts with backer plates.
Bolt 9 is the larger of the 2 clamp bolts.

I also ran into those issues installing mine. The video was great but the first bolt they have you remove isn't necessary for DCLBs. The text guide is certainly in need of a refresh. Hell, I'd be willing to do that if they'd accept my wordy walk through.

Something I also wish they had were torque specs. My Uptop roof rack has precise specs but all Cali-raised products I've bought so far are just "tighten bolt". I will say, I interacted with one of their engineers, who was also the vice president, I think (apologies, can't remember full credentials and position) and he was super helpful and knowledgeable. But even he referred me to a guide for torqueing (sp?) bolts based on class (e.g. 1/2").

I ended up doing 50 ft lbs for the 1/2" and somewhere around 25 for the 3/8". What did you do?

All I did was “tighten bolt” :muscleflexing:

BTT. I edited the original post to include photos and descriptions of the bolt locations.

Solid edits. I'm gonna have to double check my driver side. I think I did not flip bolt 7.

You may not have needed to. In the Cali Raised video they talk about flipping the front-most bolt, but on mine there was no hole on the mounting plate that lined up with the hole in the frame they used (right behind the brake lines). I only had that issue on the rear, which they didn’t. It seems like there’s some decent variability between the model years.

Thank you sir! It does seem odd that they use standard nuts-bolts when all Japanese trucks only use metric fasteners. In fact, I believe most domestic vehicles are now using metric.

    One thing to add…

I’ve read some criticisms that the coated CRL sliders rust prematurely, especially at the welds and up front where they get the most road debris kicked up from the front tires.

In an attempt to get ahead of the curve on this I applied a couple of coats of RP-342 (cosmoline), paying extra attention to those areas. Multiple thin coats of the regular RP-342 will keep it from looking brown (the natural color of it) but they do make a black version if you want. I ran a gloved hand up and down them to spread it out evenly.

I also applied some where the mounting plates mate with the frame because I’ll never again be able to wash that area!
    I’ll update here next spring.

I have a set on order. After seeing the issues with the powder coat I decided to have them sprayed all bed liner. I’m also planning to coat the frame between the mounting points like you did. Thanks for the great write up. I will definitely be referring back when mine get here.

Dangle's photo-tutorial was more helpful than the 25 page instruction sheet on the website.
