My truck came with a ceramic coating, which is awesome, but I want to add the tailgate letters and the hood decal. Pretty sure its a bad idea and it'll end up coming off. What kind of options do I have? I don't want to ruin the coating on the rest of the truck trying to clean off just these areas.

The best way would be to machine polish away the area that the decal would go so it's fully prepped to adhere. No different than a paint job or anything else you'd apply to a surface so you know it's clean. Then apply the decals and after you're sure they're on there good and solid reapply the coating over it and the new decals. It's not like the coating on one side of the panel is compromised if you removed it from another side. This is what you'd need to do if there was a high spot that wasn't found before the coating already cured.

A pro detailer would probably give you a good deal since it should be an easy and quick job and they've probably got a leftover bottle of coating for the touchup.
