Looking for opinions

I'm considering doing new rear leaf springs on my 21 Tacoma. Been looking at ATS springs or Ironman Medium load springs.

I don't do any off-roading or carry a lot of weight. There may be occasions that I pick up 15-20 bags of mulch in the spring. And we may get a camper to go camping.

The ATS springs are suppose to get me 3 inch of lift, whereas the Ironman springs are stating estimated 2 inch lift.

Just wonder if anyone out there as experience with either companies?

I have read pretty good reviews for both but which would you pick?

I'm trying to keep this mod in the 600-750 range.

Not hard at all. You need a couple of C Clamps. Definitely extra set of hands is good. You will need to remove leaf pack to do it. Let me know if you have any questions. There is YouTube videos on it as well.

 

Questions:
-Why are you looking to upgrade? Is current setup not up to the occasional loads?
-Is your suspension completely stock front and rear?
-Swapping to a heavier rear spring will increase that factory rake quite a bit, you would also need to look at getting longer shocks. Factory/stock weight with heavy dity rear spring pack will make it ride extremely rough when not loaded. Keep in mind how the truck will be used mostly vs that occasional heavy load around town.

 

Not all factory suspension.

I have Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 front and rear shocks. Front is lifted around 2.5 inches. On the rear I have a Deaver AAL installed with the stock springs. The new leaf pack would replace stock springs and Deaver AAL.

Main purpose to swap was better ride from the rear suspension and that extra added capacity if I want to haul something. Plus a little more lift in the rear.

 

You're right there in PA. Drive down to ATS. They will build up exactly what you need. Call and talk to Bob Jr.

 

As a rule of thumb, ride quality and spring rate are negatively proportional. Increasing your spring rate will decrease your ride quality.

 

All depends on the vehicle and it's total weight. If you do not increase spring rate on an overloaded truck, it will ride much worse than if you increased the spring rate. Spring rate should match your vehicles weight as close as possible.

 

All other things the same, I hold by my assertion. You say the same on your website. I’m not sure why you are disagreeing with me.

 

I did the trd pro (2015) bilsteins 6112/5160 all around, but firestone airbags in the rear to keep it level. Wheelers superbumps. The back end likes to bounce off bumps. I took off the superbumps and no difference, so it has to be the airbags. Should i swap to replacement leaf springs to give me 1.5-2” lift, then i can drop the psi in the bags? Weekdays the truck has maybe 150# load but weekends it is 500# or so. Once in awhile 800#.

Do you think the U402 Stage 1's at $1,240 (WOW... they were 950 last time I look at them) are worth it over ICON RXT's at $749? (plus i'm adding 50% on for exchange rate / shipping / taxes)

 

Disclaimer: All of this is new to me, so bear with me here.

I have a 2019 TRD Offroad, stock suspension but does have a spacer/puck up front to level it out when unloaded.
I just picked up a Leer 100xr and will be adding a RTT to it soon. With just the canopy alone the rear is sagging slightly, I expect it to sag a little more with the RTT. Can I add the Icon stage 1 or 2 without getting longer shocks in the rear? I'm guess around 300 to 350lbs of weight on the back year round.

Use will be mainly for hunting out west, forest service and blm dirt roads.
