How to: DIY Wedge Camper

I added a fold down side table to the camper.
Sturdy enough for to hold one chunky heeler.

 

Update: I put in an order with Glantz to check shipping costs; I'll update so it's on here in case it ends up still being a better deal, otherwise back to finding it locally...

 

So I’m working on ordering all the fabric and other items for the tent. I noticed that the same waterproof zipper is used for the screen. Seems unnecessary to spend the extra money on the waterproof zippers for the screen. Am I wrong? Anyone else forego the waterproof zippers on the mesh screen?

 

It depends on how you sew the mesh. I copied @Taco_Camper, so both the zippers do get exposed to the elements.

I put the screen in between Zipper A and Zipper B, and didn't bother hemming it before sewing the zipper on. I can try to take better pictures later.

These pics give you an idea and there are a bunch that I posted in that link. I have the screen on both the inside (rear) and outside (LH and RH). That is a good setup as I normally only crack the side top corners open (which folds into the tent or you can tuck it out next to the screen if you want) for ventilation or to look outside or zip the panel all the way open. Yea you sorta sew the zippers together and the screen is attached to the middle of the parts.

These test pieces are of my rear door. I had to make these first because it was confusing.

Awesome. Thanks for the clarification. When you sewed your tent, did you add any length to the seams to account for take up in the sewing process?

 

Finished my storage system. 2 soft close 24in drawers, 2 lids with gas struts and boat latches. Thicker 3/4inch wood for the drawer box to support more weight because ill be using it as a step to get to the tent. Finished every thing with some carpet and a weathered grey stain. Updates:

For Colorado, Grimco quotes ~400 for my sheets (2x 5x10 and 2x 4x8), plus another $350 for shipping. Reworking some things, I'll get by with 1 5x10 sheet plus 3 4x8 sheets, and Piedmont Plastics down in Littleton quotes $387 for all that, plus $25 per cut (getting them to do rough cuts so it's easier for me a handle in my garage to cut to spec). Also will deliver to Boulder for $100 (maybe cheaper closer), which sounds good to me compared to a Uhaul or borrowing a van to drive down there mid-week and missing work.

On a different note, I noticed on @Ripcord 's flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/149794382@N06/40278662843/in/album-72157706051859295/) he used carriage bolts as drop-on studs on V1 and switched on V2. The carriage bolt idea seems to fix a lot of the frustrations with mounting extrusion to frame (plus you can actually get them at length--I can't find actual T-slot studs for 15-series anywhere that are long enough). Maybe he'll weigh in on the switch? I don't remember reading it in here.

I assembled mine off the truck. To get the bolts all lined up I did one at a time and caught a few threads and moved into the next. If I needed to adjust I used a 90° pick to move the t nuts. I also used the beefy t nuts all over my build. The chintzy kind I didn’t trust

 

@glove3390 I will shoot you a message, I am in Denver and need panels if Peidmont will give a quantity discount. Also have a flat trailer that could help get them up to you.

 

What size lengths did you order for the tent portion? I want to get a head start on ordering things but wont be able to get in the garage until next week. (I am a tax preparer and this is my busiest time).
