X-Runner Camber

Hi all, First Time poster.

Bought my X-Runner couple months ago and first mod I did was wheels and lowering kit..

I bought the SOS performance F-1.5" / R-2" lowering kit and now I'm having trouble trying to align the truck.. I have taken the truck to 2 alignment shops and both shops are saying the truck is maxed on adjustment.

Its showing around -3.5L and -2.5R chamber. I don't want to chew through tires so does anyone have a solution other then removing the kit?

My XR is new to me as well. I've lowered the front 2.5" and had it aligned. They said it was within spec but I think they are cambered. Will alignment shops tell you when you're out of adjustment or will they just max it out and call it "good enough"?

 

You should ask for the spec sheet. At les schwab they give you before, after, and target numbers. This let's you see where you are in the spec range and if your maxed out anywhere. But you should also be able to talk to the guy doing your alignment. At the least they should know what they did.

 

I'm having the same issue. Cant get it in spec.

 

I had a very similar experience with having too much negative camber but mine was only on one side of the truck. I installed SOS performance F-1.5" / R-2" lowering kit and went to get it aligned. They told me that one side way maxed out and they couldn't get rid of the negative camber and that was all they could do. I went thru the front end and tighten everything and basically re-did the lowering install. I took the truck to another alignment shop and was told the same thing. I didn't know what to do... so I just happen to take my truck to a track racing company to talk about other options. They put my truck on the rack and with in seconds knew what my problem was.... the synkro washer of the camber bolt was on top of the tab. There are metal tabs on the left and right of the cam washers to keep them in a certain area.. somehow my tab got bent back and the camber slid and was on top on the tab. I could not believe that the other 2 alignment shops didn't tell me about this, especially since they knew there was too much negative camber only on one side. This track racing company was able to weld my tabs back and make them strong than factory. They also replaced my camber bolts and new synkro washers. Then they did and alignment for me and everything is great and within specs again. There are some pictures of the tabs after they were fixed. I wish I would have taken a picture before it was fixed.

 

Sounds like I may need to do something like this forsure. Sucks as I already paid for the lifetime alinment with firestone.

 

After alignment with firestone. Less than a week saw this and told them about it. About 2 days later I feel like the alignment is still bad so go back after inspecting it they failed to tighten up the upper control arms. I was not happy. Had to go back again after I got them tight myself. Wish I could do the alinment myself.

 

Ended up going from the SOS kit to a DJM 3/4.. If I'm to be honest I after reflecting from experiencing both kits I think staying stock and maxing out your wheel size is the best option. I'm staying DJM 3/4 for now and trying to find some front coil-overs... preferably ridetech since I have them in the rear. I'm also trying to find some 18" wheels with a 45 sidewall.. makes the truck bed still useable but won't be nearly as harsh as a 30 sidewall on 19" wheels.

I've been changing my camber by adjusting my coil overs. Firestone won't do it that way so I'm just eyeballing it for now. Waiting to see if I'll eat up my tires.

 

So far so good, tires are not wearing out like they were before.

 

Yeah I used to have a stances/static/vip car and go through tires like crazy. I’m not about that life anymore, I can’t afford it lol

 

All you rookies need adjustable UCAs. No more negative

 

I was looking for those but only found uppers for the non x runner models. I was looking into adjustable ball joints. Now I have it adjusted with my coilovers. 1200 miles now and no noticeable wear.

 

You’re right seems like they don’t make them. Crazy they don’t have adjustable UCAs for xrunners! I would love to have some adjustable coilovers but unfortunately they physically will not fit my setup being all wheel drive. Strictly street may have some info on best options for stances.

 

Stock camber is around -1 , 1.75 drop is probably max to get in spec untill you go djm then its a lil more forgiving

 

Hmmm…
Install rubber with more sidewall! I have 19” staggered wheels myself.
But I’m only lowered 2” in the front & 3” rear.
And for God’s sake please don’t use “Strictly Street” I contacted them 3 times about their upper mounts and the price changed each and every time! I think they price stuff on how they feel that day or what they can rip you off for…
Plus I’m changing my front springs to used the OE springs like this gentleman did but I had the bottom of the lower SOS spring mount/perch machine to flip the adjustment nut/collar over.
