I was driving by Fremont Toyota and decided to stop by and get a cup of their white mocha coffee. On my way out I saw a TRD pro and looked at the piece. Damn near choked while taking a sip. Outrageous

I totally get it. Man, I bought my first Tacoma, a 1996 Xtracab, from Fremont Toyota back in November of 1995, when the 1996's had just come out. I got a good deal back then, and when it came time for me to buy a new one in 2019, I went to Fremont Toyota and WHOA! They had totally changed as a dealership. They were/are run by let's say, "middle-easterners", and as you already noticed, not only do they not adhere to the MSRP, they add a dealer markup. So said heck with them, as with the advent of the internet, it is very easy to compare dealer prices online without even leaving the house. They were and still are, WAY out of the ballgame as far as pricing goes, and I honestly don't know how they stay in bidness. Thanks for sharing this pic though.

People need to just say no , and be patient… that’s the problem.

Dealers tried the mark up game when i bought my 22 OR, every dealer that tried to mark up i simply told them call me if you guys sell for MSRP. Eventually you will get what you’re looking for….

Someone will pay it. Bay Area tax. You should see the contractor mark-ups going on right now in the north bay.

It's been a total seller's market for a few years. The Toyota that's in my garage should hopefully last until the next buyer's market.

Don't know why it makes some of you mad.
If you wanna get mad at someone, get mad at the people who will pay that price.
Dealer is only asking what people will pay for it. Simple supply and demand.

As much as the stealership stinks for doing it, you're right.

That goes for everything. Gas prices, entertainment prices, housing.

I saw several LR pro manuals at $20k over - impressively, they would not budge.
They still flew off ‘the shelf’…

    I went elsewhere…

    Exactly.
I bought a brand new home in 2019.
In 2022 it is worth 60% more than I paid for it.
I did not price it there. The people willing to buy it priced it there.

I hope folks remember these dealerships down the road when supply recovers and the prices get back near MSRP.

As long as people keep paying these ridiculous mark ups it will keep happening. The dealers are not only feeding off of the shortage of vehicles but the "got to have it NOW" attitude.
If you paid MSRP for a vehicle a couple of years ago you were a sucker now you got people flying all over the country hoping to pay an already inflated MSRP but also willing to pay a "market adjustment"
